Is the Lucky Trait worth it in Project Zomboid?

Are you lucky?

If you are wondering if you should pick the Lucky trait or if Lucky is worth it in Project Zomboid, the short answer is yes. The Lucky trait is not only one of the best starting traits in Project Zomboid, it's also the best for getting loot.

In short, if you grab the Lucky trait, you will have a higher chance to get rare items from all loot containers. For example, you will find more guns, tools, weapons on zombies, and might even find an M16 in a Gun Store with the Lucky trait

The Lucky trait will also boost your foraging radius, allowing you to forage for items at a greater range. Lucky also increases the types of items you can gain from foraging.

That said, to get the Lucky trait in Project Zomboid, you will need at least 4 points. You get around eight to start with when you create a character, so we recommend using some. But if you run out of points from picking other traits, try choosing one of the following Negative traits:

  • Smoker +4
  • Prone to Illness +4
  • Out of Shape +6

We recommend picking either Smoker or Prone to Illness, but we would go with Smoker over the other if we had to choose. The reason is that the Smoker trait's adverse effects are easier to manage.
