Feeling a little uncomfortable?

Your character's survival can be affected by their moodles in Project Zomboid, and Discomfort is no exception. You'll need to address the problem at its root to get rid of the Discomfort moodle, as long as it isn't a fatal bite.

What is Discomfort in Project Zomboid?

Whenever you get the Discomfort moodle in Project Zomboid, it means that you are mildly injured (at least right at the moment). Discomfort is also the first stage of the injury moodle that players will get when they take damage in Project Zomboid

You will usually get this moodle if you've been slightly injured, from scratches, carrying too much, or other mild injuries. You can also get Discomfort from being sick. Discomfort can become worse if the injury or ailment progresses without being remedied.

If your Discomfort prompt is from overexertion, lack of food, or other basic survival hindrances, the solutions are simple: you'll probably just need to fulfill the need that you're currently depriving your character of. In these cases, you can ease Discomfort by:

  • Getting Rest
  • Eating Well
  • Staying Warm or Cooled
  • Avoid carrying too much.

In other cases, like for injuries caused by lacerations and wounds, there is no direct way of removing Discomfort (the only way to get rid of Discomfort is to heal any wounds the player may have by bandaging). Over time, as you recover, the moodle will subside. In these cases, it has more to do with time rather than due to player intervention.

If you get Discomfort from carrying too much or falling out of a building's second floor, lowering carry weight or resting for a while will help get rid of this type of moodle. It will likely recede fairly quickly after that.

Does Discomfort from a bite mean death in Project Zomboid?

Getting Discomfort from being sick can also be caused by a bite giving you the Zombie Virus, and in this case, there is no cure. This is because being bitten in Project Zomboid is always a death sentence (or an undead sentence, depending on how you look at it). The only exception is when you play in sandbox and have zombification turned off.

Discomfort only occurs because being bitten is an injury type. It doesn't have much to do with your fate, other than letting you know the bite hasn't injured you to the point of death. Not yet, anyway.
