PUBG: New State is set in 2051, which is several decades after PUBG. The first PUBG map was Erangel, and it has evolved a lot since the original. This island is divided into two sections, a big island and a small island.
Because of the constant Battleground events that have occurred in Erangel by 2051, the island has suffered greatly. The first island to host the Battlegrounds is Erangel, and it has fallen into ruin, despite the Tythonic Company and Mylta Power's assistance. Its destruction is due to the Battleground events held there, which have made the island worse over time.
Sergei Kalimnick, who grew up on Erangel and played a significant role in its evolution, is responsible for the destruction of Erangel.
Who is Sergei Kalimnick?
Born and raised in Erangel, Sergei Kalimnick is known as the Godfather of the Battlegrounds. Sergei was a boy when he witnessed a terrible massacre of Erangel's inhabitants in 1965. After that, Sergei realized he had survived because he had a higher purpose in life.
As he grew older, Sergei became wealthy after selling prison riot tapes, also known as Gulag tapes. Those tapes attracted a mysterious group known as the investors. The investors were inspired by the tapes and asked Sergei to do the same thing. He ran the first Battlegrounds in his hometown of Erangel in 1994, making him a very powerful man.
The extent of Sergei's destruction of his island has grown over time, and it's far worse in 2051. The Tythonic Company appears to be trying to help Erangel because it has several development projects across the island. Tythonic is another mysterious company that owns a lab on Troi and has taken over several Mylta Power properties.
