Do I need to have Remnant 2 – The Awakened King purchased to play with a friend?

Just kidding, I have no friends!

Nothing beats playing Remnant 2 with your friends, as tactically clearing levels or defeating a particularly tough boss comes with even more satisfaction. But since money is always an issue, I wondered what would happen if I didn't purchase The Awakened King DLC and my friends' party started exploring new content.

Can you play Remnant 2: The Awakened King with your friends without purchasing?

I'm pleased to tell you that the answer to this question is a resounding yes. You indeed can play Remnant 2: The Awakened King with your friends, even if you haven't purchased the game. Appreciating the significance of camaraderie, the developers at Gunfire Games have decided against locking people out of their newly released DLC content if they haven't purchased it, even though their friends still have it in their library. This decision is a very welcome breath of fresh air, especially in the times when companies don't tend to put the players' interest at the forefront of decision-making.

Having your friend purchase a copy of Remnant 2: The Awakened King won't grant you the full experience, however. While you will be able to explore the new areas and fight new enemies and bosses with your teammates, you will still be locked out of all new items, weapons, and the new archetype. To enjoy the full content of the newly-released DLC, you must first pull the trigger and make the purchase once it releases, which is only right.

To be able to survive this new and deadly version of Lossomn, you will need the new gear because many perils await. A host of new weapons and modifications, along with new items, like amulets and rings, will help you fight new and mysterious threats of unknown origin, which crawl out from the ocean depths and roam the streets.
