Looking for the best build in The Forge? If you're anything like me, you want to min-max your gear and stats in almost every game you play. The Forge might seem simple on the surface, but there are several factors you need to consider when optimizing your build. In this guide, I list the top five builds in The Forge for every playstyle. Buckle up and read on.
Top 5 The Forge Builds - Best Synergies for Every Playstyle
From Race Perks and Ore Traits to Runes and your weapons and armor, the key to success in The Forge is finding perfect synergy. Sure, you can just slap on the best items you currently have, but that usually leads to a suboptimal build, even if the raw stats look good on paper. What you’re really chasing are passive abilities and traits synergies. With that in mind, I’ve put together the five strongest builds in The Forge, fine-tuned for every playstyle.
Maximum DPS Build
- Race: Demon (Mythical)
- Weapon: Chaos (Straight Sword)
- Main Weapon Ore: Magmaite (Legendary)
- Main Armor Ore: Demonite (Mythical)
- Runes: Blast Chip & Flame Spark
This build is focused on exploiting Demon's Demonic Powers stat boosts, particularly +20% Attack Speed, +20% Physical Damage, and +20% Stronger Fire Damage. Chaos is the best weapon in The Forge, with the highest DPS (19.5) and fast Attack Speed (0.5s), and when paired with Demon's Cursed Aura and stat boost, it will quite literally melt opponents around you, both with high single-target damage as well as AoE damage.
Demonite takes this to a whole new level by pushing Backfire to a 50% chance to burn enemies whenever you take damage (it stacks), meaning you’ll be setting everything around you on fire almost nonstop. Combine that with a 20% burn for 2 seconds and a 15% chance on hit (on an already high-DPS weapon and with a +20% Fire DMG buff from being a Demon), and you’re basically unstoppable.
But wait, there’s more! The Flame Spark Rune also deals solid fire damage by default (chance on-hit), which pairs perfectly with Chaos's high DPS. The real bonus, however, comes from Demonic Powers, which boosts that damage by 20%. Blast Chip rounds out the setup simply because it’s an excellent all-around Rune for clearing mobs.
The Immortal Tank Build
- Race: Golem (Legendary)
- Weapon: Dragon Slayer (Colossal Sword)
- Main Weapon Ore: Eye Ore (Legendary)
- Main Armor Ore: Obsidian (Epic)
- Runes: Drain Edge & Ward Patch
If you like playing bulky builds, this is by far the best tank (face tank, to be precise) build in The Forge. You will be able to absorb a massive amount of direct damage, and it will feel like a scratch. Golem’s passive gives you +30% Health while also having a 50% chance to reduce any damage by 25% (thanks to the Stone Heart passive). That’s a massive reduction over time.
The Dragon Slayer goes perfectly with this build, having the second-highest DPS while boasting a massive 10 Studs range, allowing you to keep your distance and take less damage while smashing your enemies. Having a -10% Health debuff, the Eye Ore might seem like a strange pick for this build, but the idea here is that it’s basically a free +15% Damage buff, because the debuff is negated by Golem’s passive.
Not much needs to be said about the Obsidian Ore. The Ore's 30% flat Defense bonus makes it the obvious material of choice for a tank build. And it goes without saying that you should be running a heavy armor set when playing a face-tank in The Forge. To finish things off, the Drain Edge is the perfect Rune for this setup. Most of the time, you won’t even take damage, and when you do, the lifesteal effect from Drain Edge will quickly restore it. The same goes for the Ward Patch Rune, which will make you even more invulnerable.

The Evasive Assassin Build
- Race: Shadow (Epic)
- Weapon: Gladius Dagger (Daggers)
- Armor Ore #1: Darkryte (Mythical)
- Armor Ore #2: Mythril (Legendary)
- Runes: Frost Speck & Drain Edge
This build is for those of you who vibe with MC Hammer’s "Can’t Touch This," because you’ll be dodging enemies better than American billionaires dodge taxes. My The Forge Assassin build focuses on speed and evasiveness, prioritizing not getting hit while dealing a lot of fast damage. Let's dive deeper into the build.
The Shadow race comes with a phenomenal Phantom Step passive, giving you a 15% chance to become a Shadow and turn completely immune to attacks. This stacks with Darkryte’s Trait, which also includes the Phantom Step passive, raising the total to a ridiculous 30% chance to fully evade incoming damage.
Mythril provides an additional 15% Defense on armor. You can go with Obsidian if you want 30%, but I choose 15% Mythril due to the higher multiplier (3.5x). Finally, for the Runes, the best pick here is the Frost Speck with its Ice passive ability. It fits perfectly into the idea of an evasive build, as you can potentially perma-freeze your opponents due to the high attack speed. Drain Edge is just an all-around great Rune that will further boost your survivability.
Finally, when it comes to weapons, the best choice is any basic dagger (such as the Gladius Dagger) because they have the fastest attack speed in the game. This lets you proc your Runes as often as possible, enabling a near-permanent freeze state. This build excels in single-target fights (against bosses, for example), but it severely lacks AoE and mob-farming potential, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to use it.
The Infinite Stamina Berserker Build
- Race: Angel (Mythical)
- Weapon: Skull Crusher (Colossal Swords)
- Main Weapon Ore: Rivalite (Epic)
- Main Armor Ore: Uranium (Legendary)
- Runes: Rage Mark & Drain Edge
This build is a bit experimental, but it’s still a lot of fun to play. The idea is to create the strongest Critical Strike type setup in The Forge, but not in the usual assassin style. Instead of a fast, fragile crit build, this one is noticeably bulkier, trading some speed for much heavier hits. It also taps into low-health synergy to further boost your damage output.
The Angel race provides all-around great and useful traits and passives, but having a 1-in-2 chance to Smite enemies is a critical part of this build. Smite hits for 30% of your Physical Damage, and that's one of the reasons why we go with the biggest heavy-hitter for this build, the Skull Crusher, with the highest single-hit base damage in the game (24). This means the strongest Smites possible.
Bear with me here, because once Rivalite comes into play, that already monstrous base damage gets an additional 20% chance to crit, resulting in a massive 48 base damage per hit. As for the armor rune, I prefer Uranium, since this build lacks AoE, and Uranium helps cover that weakness nicely.
However, the core synergy of this build kicks in with the Rage Mark Rune once Berserk activates at 35% HP or lower. You gain extra speed and bonus Physical Damage, which translates into even bigger Critical Hits and stronger Smites. Then, when you drop below 20%, you gain infinite Stamina (thanks to Angel's Holy Hand), letting you zip around the dungeon, landing massive Smites and Crits nonstop.
The Miner - Best Farming Build in The Forge
- Race: Dwarf (Epic)
- Weapon: Double Battle Axe (Great Axes)
- Main Weapon Ore: Magmaite (Legendary)
- Main Armor Ore: Demonite (Mythical)
- Runes: Miner Shard & Drain Edge
The final build on this list is for players who care most about economy and progression. The whole idea behind it is to maximize your mining output, since mining is the single most important part of progressing in the game. The more efficiently you mine, the more gold you earn, and the better gear you can acquire. At the moment, Dwarf is the only race that offers any substantial mining bonuses.
The Dwarf race comes with the Gifted Miner passive, granting +15% Mining Damage and +5% Better Forge. It also has the Critical Mining passive, which gives you a 20% chance to deal +50% damage to rocks. Together, these passives drastically improve your economy loop by letting you mine higher-quality ores faster and, on average, get better results when crafting weapons and armor.
It goes without saying, but you should equip your pickaxe with Miner Shards, since they greatly boost your mining Luck, Speed, and Damage, further improving your overall farming efficiency. And frankly, that’s most of what you need to know for this build. For your weapon and armor Ores (as well as your Rune choice), I generally recommend taking defensive and AoE traits, just to keep you safe and occasionally clear out pesky enemies. Combat isn’t your priority with this build.
With that said, my list of the best builds in The Forge is completed. Keep in mind that my goal was to create builds for various playstyles, not necessarily to have the best five builds overall. Each of these builds has its own pros and cons, working well in some situations while being suboptimal in others. At the end, it all comes down to your playstyle and how you like to play the game.
