What is Equipment in Evomon?

Before we dive deeper into the rankings, it’s important to understand how gear works in Evomon, including gear types, how to obtain equipment, what bonuses it provides, and more. Let’s go through it step by step.

How to get Equipment in Evomon

In order to earn an equipment piece in Evomon, you will need to play the Equipment Challenge, which has a chance to drop a gear piece as a reward. Here's how it works:

  • The Equipment Challenge dungeon is located on Silent Sand Island, which is the Level 90 island.
  • You need to reach Account Level 40 to unlock the Equipment Challenge dungeon.
  • There are several different challenges based on your level, and each challenge has three separate zones.
  • The harder the challenge, the higher your chances of getting Mythic gear.
  • Each zone can drop gear pieces from a specific gear set, which you can see in more detail below.
  • You can also use Multidrop Tickets to increase your chances of getting gear.

Equipment Type and Rarity

There are currently three different gear types and three rarities. There's a weapon gear slot, a crown gear slot, and a gem/ablem gear slot. In terms of rarity, there's one epic set and several legendary and mythic sets.

How Does Equipment Work?

Equipment in Evomon boosts your stats. The exact stat bonuses you get are somewhat random, but they still follow a specific rule. Here’s how it works:

  • Weapon Gear: The main stat will always boost either Attack or Special Attack. The secondary stat will boost a random stat.
  • Headgear: The main stat will always boost either Defense or Special Defense. The secondary stat will boost a random stat.
  • Amulet Gear: The main stat will always boost Speed. The secondary stat will boost a random stat.
  • Changable stats: On top of the primary and secondary stats, gear can also have two additional stat boosts on Legendary pieces or three additional stat boosts on Mythic pieces. These extra stat boosts can be improved, which we’ll cover later.

Mythic vs. Legendary Gear: What’s the Difference?

The same piece of gear can drop in both Legendary and Mythic rarity, and the same applies to entire gear sets. Since the set bonus is the same for both rarities of the same set, what is the actual difference between Legendary and Mythic gear?

Mythic gear generally has higher stat bonuses, along with one additional upgradable stat slot. Mythic items have three upgradable stat slots, while Legendary items have two.

Set Bonus (3/3) On your Evomon’s first switch-in, raise SpA by 2 stages.
  • This is one of the most reliable set bonuses in the game. A free +2 SpA without spending a turn is huge on special sweepers and immediately changes damage breakpoints.
  • It feels especially strong in PvE and bossing, where getting instant burst matters more than fancy setup lines. If a special attacker already has good coverage, this set lets it start snowballing right away.
  • The only real drawback is that it is a one-time entry trigger, so passive Evomon or units that do not pressure with attacks will not get full value from it.

Set Bonus (3/3) On your Evomon’s first switch-in, raise Atk by 2 stages.
  • This is the physical counterpart to Court of the High Sky, and it is just as threatening in practice. Physical attackers love getting a free +2 Atk before throwing out their first serious hit.
  • It works best on aggressive carries, revenge killers, and anything with strong neutral coverage, because you can cash in on the boost immediately instead of wasting tempo on setup.
  • Like the other first-switch sets, it loses value on defensive pivots or drawn-out utility builds that are not trying to force progress as soon as they enter the field.

Set Bonus (3/3) On your Evomon’s first switch-in, raise Spe by 2 stages.
  • Speed is always useful, and this set can completely flip matchups on mid-speed attackers or bulky setup Evomon that only need one push to start moving first.
  • In actual play, it is strongest on mons that already have solid damage but sit just short of key speed thresholds. The set lets them outspeed and pressure immediately.
  • It sits below the offensive +2 sets because speed alone does not secure KOs. Very fast Evomon may not need it, and very slow tanks often still do not gain enough from the boost.

Set Bonus (3/3) On your Evomon’s first use Ultimate, restores 2 ultimate energy.
  • This set has one of the highest ceilings in the game. If an Evomon relies heavily on its Ultimate, effectively refunding energy on that first cast can swing entire fights.
  • It is especially strong in PvE boss fights and longer matches where getting to a second Ultimate matters more than raw opening burst. On the right carrier, this can honestly feel close to S tier.
  • The catch is consistency. If the wearer is not Ultimate-dependent, or if it gets focused before using its Ultimate, the passive does a lot less than the top universal sets.

Set Bonus (3/3) Restores your Evomon’s 10% HP when it’s in battle and doesn’t attack this turn.
  • This set is much better than it looks on paper, but only on the right archetype. Defensive Evomon, supports, and utility-heavy builds can squeeze real value out of the passive over a long fight.
  • It pairs well with turns spent buffing, debuffing, healing, or simply waiting for a safer attack window. In stallier games, the passive chips away at the opponent’s progress and gives your frontline more staying power.
  • The problem is obvious: if your Evomon is trying to attack every turn, the set might as well be blank. That narrow use case keeps it out of the top tiers.

Set Bonus (3/3) When your Evomon’s HP falls below 50%, raise Def and SpD by 3 stages.
  • This is a reactive safety-net set. On bulky Evomon that already have healing, mitigation, or good natural bulk, the sudden +3 Def and +3 SpD can make them surprisingly hard to finish.
  • It is usable on bruisers that expect to take a hit before stabilizing, but in real matches it often feels a bit too “after the fact.” If the wearer gets burst down or focused by the wrong damage type, the trigger may not save it.
  • Compared to the stronger sets, it does not help you gain momentum early. It is more of a clutch survivability tool than a true win-condition passive.

Set Bonus No meaningful set passive. This set is mainly a starter placeholder until you can farm better gear.
  • This set is here because everyone uses it early, not because it is actually good. It does the job while you are starting out, but it falls off extremely fast once proper set passives enter the picture.
  • The biggest issue is opportunity cost. Even mediocre Legendary or Mythic set bonuses provide far more practical value than a pile of early placeholder stats.
  • Use it while leveling if you need something equipped, but do not invest into it and replace it as soon as your farming opens up.
