PLS DONATE creator purchases Time Square billboard to promote his Discord server – Roblox

Roblox is spreading its wings faster than players may think.

A billboard purchased by hazem, creator of the popular Roblox experience PLS DONATE, played in New York City's Times Square on Saturday, February 18, 2023, every six minutes for 15 hours straight, and then continued to play on the following Sunday. The billboard featured an animation created by Paze that showcased a variety of tweets sent in by Roblox influencers, developers, and community members, and then signed off with a link to Hazem's Discord server. This is only the second time Roblox has been advertised in Times Square, with its debut being an official announcement of the company going public on the stock market, and the first time it's been mentioned on a non-corporate, user-funded billboard.

Before the billboard launched, hazem posted a teaser tweet in which he stated that the "most liked replies [were] getting on a billboard," insinuating that a bigger project was in the works. Though a majority of hazem's identity is kept private, the community assumption (based solely on the number that's displayed in his Twitter bio) is that the young developer is only 16 years old, making him one of the youngest profitable developers on the Roblox platform. Exact numbers depend on length of time, size, and location, but ad slots in Times Square are expected to range in price, costing anywhere from a few thousand dollars to upwards of $50,000, meaning hazem has more than a few Robux lying around.

Beyond just paving his way as a successful Roblox developer, hazem has also branched into branding, publishing, and producing, with the creation of his own game, music, art, and video label, Quataun. This label promises to "provide free services to all partnered content creators, artists or game developers," and is currently self described as an up-and-coming company. As more Roblox community members find success on the platform and, in turn, delve into bigger and more "mainstream" projects, Quataun will likely continue to rise in popularity, making a name for itself as an in-the-business company set forth by a creator who exceeded expectations, similar to MeganPlays' Wonder Works Studios.
