Roblox celebrated its 20th anniversary at RDC 2026 with one of its more ambitious batches of announcements in recent memory, covering everything from standalone games and browser play to offline experiences, AI-generated worlds, new discovery systems, and faster ways for developers to actually get paid.
And while plenty of RDC announcements are traditionally aimed squarely at developers, several of these could fundamentally change how normal players access Roblox games. The biggest idea is called Roblox Everywhere, and the name isn't particularly subtle.
Roblox Games Are Becoming Standalone Apps
Roblox says creators will eventually be able to make their experiences available as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles, while Roblox continues handling the underlying technology and services. That's potentially a huge shift, and could mark a truly new area for the platform - essentially moving from being "just" a platform to an engine, like Unreal or Unity.
Instead of convincing (forcing, if you will) someone to install Roblox, create an account, find your experience, and launch it from inside the platform, developers could eventually distribute something that looks and behaves much more like a conventional game. Roblox games on Steam, anyone?
Roblox is also reducing friction in another way. By the end of 2026, Chrome users will be able to launch Roblox games directly through their browser from an Experience Details Page, without installing the Roblox app first. Support for additional browsers will follow later.
Open the page. Click the link. Play the game. Revolutionary stuff, I know. Jokes aside, this really does make things much more convenient, so I absolutely applaud this simple but welcome option.
Roblox Is Getting Offline Games
Perhaps even stranger for a platform built almost entirely around online play is the announcement that offline Roblox games are coming too. Creators will be able to offer offline solo modes alongside their normal multiplayer experiences, allowing players to continue playing without an internet connection. Roblox currently expects the feature to become broadly available by mid-2027, with early access beginning sooner.
Roblox is also introducing a persistent Friends chat tab that follows players between games, while voice typing is already available. Later this year, developers will be able to implement pre-approved Quick Words for common gameplay communication.

Roblox Wants More Than 3D Multiplayer Games
Getting a game made is only half the battle. Getting anyone to actually find it remains the other, arguably much harder, half.
Roblox says its recommendation systems are becoming more age-aware, with younger players generally responding better to shorter experiences (brainrot and Steam clones) while older audiences gravitate toward deeper games they revisit over longer periods.
Discovery will increasingly evaluate performance across 28 days and beyond, instead of heavily prioritizing a game's first week. Roblox is also experimenting with rewarding games that bring entirely new players onto the platform.
Meanwhile, the TikTok-like Moments feed is now fully available in the US. Videos uploaded to Experience Details Pages will begin appearing there later this month, while October will add the ability to tap avatars and buy items shown in videos. Roblox also plans to eventually make Build-created games directly playable through Moments.
Yes, we're apparently approaching the point where you can watch a Roblox clip, buy someone's outfit, and start playing their game without leaving the feed. Convenience or dystopia? I'll let you decide.

Roblox Is Making It Easier for Developers to Get Paid
Finally, at RDC 2026, Roblox announced Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card to make creator earnings more accessible. The company says developers have earned more than $5 billion through DevEx since 2013, including approximately $1.7 billion during the past 12 months.
Eligible US creators aged 18 and older will begin gaining access to Roblox Wallet later this year. Instead of manually waiting for traditional payouts, cleared earnings can be deposited in real currency every business day.
Roblox Card will follow in 2027, connecting directly to Wallet and allowing creators to spend their available earnings without first transferring the money to a traditional bank account. International Wallet expansion is also planned.
Taken individually, RDC 2026's announcements cover a ridiculous number of different systems. Put together, though, the direction is fairly clear.
Roblox wants its games to work with or without the Roblox app, online or offline, in 3D or 2D, on practically any device, while making it easier for developers to create them, find an audience, and build an actual business around them. For a platform that just turned 20, Roblox certainly doesn't seem particularly interested in settling down.
