But, to help you recover from this and actually make progress, we've listed all the essential tips for beginners in Dig It. These include everything from shovels, loots, and how to make the most out of what you get.

Know your Shovels - Best Shovels

Shovels are your first and foremost priority in Dig It. The kind of loot you get, their rarity, weight, value as well as the digging difficulty, everything is dictated by your Shovel. So, your first goal as a beginner should be to save your Doolars and progress through the various Shovels that you can buy.

To help you get a better idea of what's the best Shovel to save for, you can check out our Shovel Tier List for Dig It. Moreover, knowing the location of every Shovel is also important, so you can take a look at all the Shovel locations in Dig it as well.

Take advantage of Benson's Salary Rewards

One important feature that you will see often as a beginner at Dig It, is Benson's Salary Rewards. These are basically chest rewards, that you can claim for being online for an extended time period. Now, while you might think they're not that great in the beginning, but instead, you can get a lot of value from them.

The best part of these rewards is the free Piggy Bank mount as the 2x EXP gain boosts for 15 minutes. While the mount can help traveling through islands easier, the double EXP boost can help you level up significantly quicker.

Make the most out of Events - Best Events

When playing Dig It, you'll see that there are various events taking place continuously after regular time intervals. These events are extremely lucrative and can give you a ton of treasures, EXP, and access to some of the best Shovels as well.

Currently, there are six events that take place, namely the Colossal Worm Event, Falling Stars Event, Ioniser Shovel Event, Lunar Cloud Event, Meteor Event, and the Woolly Mammoth Event. But among these events, the best ones for beginners are these:

  1. Lunar Cloud Event: Provide access to the Lunar Cloud Region, where you can get tons of EXP from digging out items. Moreover, you can also buy the Lunar Shovel, which is somewhat affordable in comparison to other event Shovels.
  2. Falling Stars Event: During the Falling Star events, you'll see multiple stars falling from the sky near you. Mining them will give you items with modifiers, and lots of EXP. This can be a bit difficult at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it.

While the others are in no way bad, but require much higher level Shovels and expertise to get value out of. So, for beginners, you should focus on the above two events.

Use the Bank and Backpacks liberally - Storage Guide

Getting your hands on loot can seem easy at first, but as you make progress, you'll quickly run out of storage space. While this can seem like a minor inconvenience at first, later it becomes a major issue, especially during time-limited events if you run out of inventory space.

There are only two ways you can deal with this problem, either buy the 'Sell From Anywhere' Gamepass item with Robux, or upgrade your backpack. While the first option is unfavorable for most players, the latter is essential to progress towards the late game.

So, the order in which you should purchase bags in Dig It is as follows:

  1. Blingpack: Costs only 750 Doolars and requires level 5 or higher. Provides 10 extra inventory slots. Located near Banker in Nookville.
  2. Coffin Backpack: Costs 25,000 Doolars and requires level 25 or higher. Provides 30 extra inventory slots. Can be found in Badlands.
  3. Nuke Backpack: Costs 65,000 Doolars and requires level 50 or higher. Provides 60 extra inventory slots. Can be found in Nookville at the back.

If you can't afford the next backpack and are still running out of space, put your extra items in the bank to save them for later and enjoy a clean inventory.

Spend your Doolars Wisely - Spending Guide

With so many different ways to spend your money in Dig It, it can be tough to keep track of your expenses if you don't prioritize your finances properly. So, to ensure that you don't run out of money, here's the order in which you should spend in Dig It:

  1. Shovels: Shovels should be your first spending priority. After you've purchased an intermediate-level Shovel, you can then purchase a better backpack. But, getting a top-tier Shovel should be your only goal.
  2. Backpacks: While equally important as Shovels, buying the Coffin bag should last you a long while. Only upgrade once you regularly start running out of space.
  3. Boats: Boats are the last place where you'd want to spend your money. Buying the first one for 1,000 Doolars should last you the majority of the game. After sorting out your Shovel and Bag, then you can upgrade.
  4. Consumables: Finally, you can spend on consumables like Magnets or Treasure Scanners, but only during events like the Colossal Worm or Wolly Mammoth event, when there's instead chance of high rarity items.

Best digging map in Dig It

Once you have your priorities sorted, you should then focus on the core aspect of the game, digging. But, even when digging, you should choose the best map rather than wasting your time on maps without good loot. So, here's the best map to dig in Dig It:

  • Piratesburg: This map, especially the area inside the cave, can consistently help you get Legendary and Mythic rarity items. Piratesburg also has some of the best drops in Dig It, making it the best map for beginners. An Industrial Shovel or higher is recommended.

Other maps aren't as good because Badlands has a low Legendary drop chance, Permafrost has higher difficulty and Greek Temple doesn't have any Mythic drops. You can go to the Lunar Cloud map, but only when it's available.

Don't overspend on Boats

As mentioned in the spending guide, don't spend your valuable Doolars on buying boats. Apart from cosmetics, there's almost no tangible benefit between buying the 1,000 Doolar Wooden Boat and the 40,000 Doolar Speedster. Only upgrade to higher-level boats once you've unlocked the highest-tier Shovel and Bag.

Learn to use the Loot Pit

The Loot Pit is one of the most confusing mechanics in Dig It. Most players tend to avoid this since there's a chance that your loot might not get better. But, the upside from getting an upgraded loot, or ones with modifiers and mutations can be quite significant. So, you should definitely take advantage of the Loot Pit, and get the most value out of it.

There are multiple consumables that you can buy in Dig It, these include Magnets, Treasure Scanners, and more. Each of them will require money to be purchased, but provide a lot of value. Here's a complete guide on each of them:

  • Magnets: Magnets are items that can let you increase your Shovel's luck temporarily. There are four types of Magnets currently in the game. Heres each of them: Regular provides +5% Luck for Home, Fossil provides +14% Luck for Fossilized, Urban provides +30% Luck for Home and Radiant provides +39% Luck for Radioactive items. You can get these from either digging and opening Magnet Boxes, or purchasing Magnet Boxes from Magnet Dealer at 250 Doolar per box.
  • Treasure Scanner: Similar to the Magnets, the Treasure Scanner is an item that you can purchase from the Hobo near the Nuke in Nookville. It costs 10,000 Doolars, but allows you to spot locations with higher chance of finding treasures.
  • Teleporter: The Teleporter is a Gamepass item in Dig It, that you can purchase for 750 Robux. It allow you to teleport to any location, including event islands, without having to travel. Do note that it has a 20 second cooldown.
