How to heal in Shin Megami Tensei V — Auto-Heal Explained

Keep that HP up.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest JRPG from Atlus, and the game offers a substantial challenge for those willing to take on the demons plaguing Tokyo. Facing such powerful enemies will leave players wanting health, and there are features in Shin Megami Tensei V that allow for quick healing after each battle, like the Auto-Heal.

When outside of combat, players can press the R button to initiate the Auto-Heal mechanic. Auto-Heal restores the party's health using some of the healing spells of party members. Keep in mind that this will end up costing some of your party member's MP.

Auto-Heal does prioritize taking MP from those not out on the front lines, so if you've got several Demons with healing capabilities, those in your reserve party slots will have their MP drained.

Try not to rely too heavily on Auto-Heal, as MP is a finite resource that you'll need for battles. Make sure to use healing items if at all possible.
