How to save in Shin Megami Tensei V

Chronicle your adventure.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest JRPG from Atlus, and like many other JRPGs, players can only save at specific points during their journey. Because the game only offers manual saves, it’s essential to know how to keep your progress up to date in Shin Megami Tensei V.

To save in Shin Megami Tensei V, players must head to one of the game’s Leyline Founts. These glowing blue portals cover the game’s dungeons. Look for circles on the map. Once players have found a Leyline Fount, selecting Chronicle Deeds from the Leyline Found menu allows them to save their progress.

Saving in Shin Megami Tensei is especially important because failing to do so often can lead to a massive loss of progress if players die in battle. Dying in Shin Megami Tensei takes players back to the main menu, where they’ll have to load the game from their last manual save.

Because encounters in Shin Megami Tensei V are so challenging, saving as often as possible is essential to progression. No matter how comfortable you feel with the current situation, permanently save when encountering a Leyline Fount. The game also boasts multiple save slots, meaning players can make various saves at different locations. We recommend using at least two save slots in case something happens to the player’s primary save.

Shin Megami Tensei V is available now for Nintendo Switch.
