Ahead of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami threw us survival horror fans a bone by revealing and releasing Silent Hill: The Short Message. As a cherry on top, the game is completely free.
Where to download Silent Hill: The Short Message
First announced during the January 31 State of Play, Silent Hill: The Short Message is available free of charge for PS5 owners. The only thing you have to do is head over to the PSN Store, search for the game, and begin the download.
If you're a PS4 owner looking for the game, you're out of luck as this is a PS5-exclusive title. That's bad news for survival horror fans stuck on the previous generation, but a free game is a nice incentive to finally upgrade.
What is Silent Hill: The Short Message?
This is a game that started as an experiment, but it eventually blossomed into a full-fledged game. It's not going to have the same length as a full-priced game, but it's instead going to be something that gives you a taste of what to expect from the Silent Hill series if you're a newcomer. Get ready for cramped hallways and spooky environments. We wouldn't blame you if you had to play with the lights on.
Silent Hill: The Short Message won't be much longer than a few hours if that, so don't go into expecting that to be the case. Instead, it's best to treat it as a nice appetizer for what's to come with the Silent Hill 2 remake and the rest of the announced titles like Silent Hill F.
