10. Cel Shading

If you're looking to make your Sonic Generations experience more vibrant and pop a bit more, the Sonic Generations Cel Shader mod is a good choice to start with. It will give you those cartoon-like visuals that we all love. This mod overrides Sonic Generations' rendering to make it look a bit more interesting.

9. Dynamic White World

This is another play on the shaders from the same modder as the tenth entry on this list. The Dynamic White World effect mod readjusts the shaders to give you that immersive experience of Sonic running through the whiteness and back into colorful life.

The Better FxPipeline mod fixes a number of rendering issues faced by Sonic Generations. It fixes the scaling and depth of field to work well with all resolutions. It also provides you with multiple FXAA shaders to make the game look more pleasing.

7. Direct3D 9 Ex

If you're plagued by performance issues in Sonic Generations, the Direct3D 9 Ex mod will replace Sonic Generations' Direct3D 9 with a more optimized version. This helps you get a better frame rate and reduces stuttering. It uses less RAM and lets you alt-tab out of the game with no issues.

6. Classic Sonic Improvement

Not that Classic Sonic is any bad in Generations, but this mod goes on to make tweaks that make your gameplay feel like how it originally would have while playing an actual classic Sonic game. It matches the renders to the originals, tweaks the controls to be a bit like the classic Sonic games, and also makes Sonic faster.

5. Low-End

There could be a variety of reasons why you would want your Sonic game to look low-end. It could be due to the games running poorly or, simply, to the nostalgia. The Low-End mod for Sonic Generations makes your game look as if you were playing on your PS2 and gives you a lot more FPS at the same time.

4. Sonic Unleashed HUD

Another one for the nostalgia. If you've always liked the classic-looking HUD from older Sonic games, you need to get the Sonic Unleashed HUD. It's a neat and well-made HUD mod for all the Sonic fans.

3. HedgeMod Manager

For all these nice mods, you need a quick and easy way to install them. This is where the HedgeMod Manager comes into play. It's a nifty tool that makes the process of mod installation for Sonic Generations much easier.

2. Double Jump

While most Sonic games give Sonic the ability to do a double jump, Sonic Generations doesn't have that for some reason. So, the double jump mod lets Sonic perform a jump while in midair in order to clear more obstacles during the gameplay.

1. Unleashed Project

The Unleashed Project for Sonic Generations is one of the most popular mods for the game. This fan favorite ports most, if not all, of the levels from the Xbox 360's Sonic Unleashed to Sonic Generations on the PC. This gives you more content, more gameplay, and more fun with the game.

There are plenty of other Sonic Generation mods out there. They range from simple visual mods to mods that change the mechanics of the game. So, make your pick and have fun modding!
