What is the Golden Armor used for in Sons of the Forest?

The Golden Armor has more than one purpose in Sons of the Forest. Besides offering armor protection to the player, it also acts as a key to unlocking the Arm Door in the most eastern green marker. This leads to the end game location for the early access of Sons of the Forest.

When you equip the armor, it gives you a full protection bar. It doesn't degrade by use as other armor types do. Instead, its protection bar remains constant as long as you wear it. The caveat is that it doesn't offer complete damage nullification like the other armor types. Instead, it works by lessening the damage you take. In practice, that means when you get attacked, you will still receive damage to your HP, but for a lesser amount, and the armor will remain undamaged.

Wearing this armor will be vital for your survival when going through the magma caves after unlocking the Arm Door. Keeping it equipped together with the Cross will be essential for that part of the game because the enemies are especially susceptible to the effects of those two items.

On the south-eastern GPS coordinates, you can obtain the Golden Armor by visiting a cave near the large lake. It is a fairly large cave, and navigating through it will be difficult. To finish the cave run successfully, you must first have The rebreather and The cross as well.
