Splatoon 3, the highly anticipated third entry in the Splatoon trilogy, is nearly upon us. Nintendo has been drip-feeding content and news since the announcement trailer dropped in 2021. Let's take a peek at everything we know.

What is the release date for Splatoon 3?

Splatoon 3 is set to release on September 9, 2022.

What platforms will Splatoon 3 be on?

As a Nintendo first-party title, Splatoon 3 will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Don't expect Splatoon 3 to ever come to non-Nintendo platforms.

Splatfests have yet to be confirmed for Splatoon 3, but it's a safe bet that they'll return, as they were a popular mode in the previous two entries.

Will Splatoon 3 have splitscreen?

It doesn't appear that Splatoon 3 will support splitscreen play at this time. The number of players on a local system is limited to one.

Will Splatoon 3 have Amiibo support?

At the time of this writing, Nintendo has yet to confirm Amiibo support for Splatoon 3.

Will Splatoon 3 have Octolings?

Octolings will be making a return in the Story Mode and prove to be the foil to Agent 3.

Will Splatoon 3 have multiplayer?

Yes, Splatoon 3 will feature multiplayer. Both local wireless play and online play will support two to eight players.

Will Splatoon 3 have a story mode?

Yes, players will take control of Agent 3 in their fight against Octarians. Along the way, they'll discover the secrets of Alterna, the Fuzzy Ooze, and how it all connects to the return of the Mammalians.

Will Splatoon 3 have bots?

If one is referring to the crab-like mechs that were revealed, then yes, Splatoon 3 will have bots. If one is referring to AI combatants, it is unlikely, as the first two entries in the series didn't have multiplayer bots either.

The release date trailer functions more as a gameplay trailer. Two teams of four square off against one another in Turf War for a fast, frantic, and highly competitive match.
