The Nintendo UK Twitter account confirmed on May 2, 2022 that all of the basic type weapons from previous Splatoon games will be present in the upcoming third installment. While various followers found this to be an expected detail of Splatoon 3, others were excited. Having base-level weapons available from previous installments, like the Jet Squelcher, is great for players who want to experience their favorites in a new environment.

Some gamers who closely follow the franchise were quick to point out that this news, while welcome, is a bit underwhelming. It appears that there are a number of fans who want Nintendo to add more original content to the newest Splatoon title. While this may be a valid criticism, there still exists another side of the fanbase that wants a game with improved graphics and capabilities.
