Should you equip Extend Scan or Silencer in Star Ocean Divine Force?

Find stuff or kill stuff easier? Hmm.

Not far into the Star Ocean: The Divine Force, you will unlock an A.I. orb called D.U.M.A., which essentially allows you to jetpack and glide, along with many other things. The A.I. has skills you can use for the field and skills for battle, and both are handy. However, you only have two field skills to choose from, Extend Scan or Silence; which one should you equip on D.U.M.A. in Star Ocean: The Divine Force?

Should you strengthen Extend Scan or Silencer in Star Ocean Divine Force?

Should you equip Extend Scan or Silencer in Star Ocean: The Divine Force entirely depends on your playstyle and chosen difficulty. If you're the collect everything type of gamer, choose Extend Scan, as this will make life easier for you to find chests and the like. But if you want to get the upper hand in combat, then Silencer is the way to go, as getting that Battle Chain for increased Experience is hard to pass up.

  • Extend Scan
    • Expands the area of effect for D.U.M.A.'s scanning.
  • Silencer
    • Reduces enemies' footsteps detection range.

By strengthening Extend Scan in the Divine Force, when using D.U.M.A. on the field, you can extend the scan range to travel farther, allowing you to find chests and important interactions further away from you. Sure, you still have to scan often because some areas are enormous, but the bigger radius makes it less painful. The max level you can have Extend Scan at is level four, at 150% max range.

By strengthening Silencer, it reduces the range of when enemies detect your footsteps. So if you're focusing on always nailing that surprise attack to increase your Battle Chain, Silencer is the way to go. If you level this up to max, it'll 100% reduce the range, but if enemies have eyes, they can still see you, so pay attention to the direction enemies are facing.

We recommend Silencer in the field and Extend Scan in villages and linear paths. Even though the Extend Scan is extremely useful for finding chests. With areas so massive, you'll end up fighting more enemies than you will find chests. And with the speed at which you sprint and using V.A. to fly, you can find chests pretty easily.
