Getting first place can be rewarding in itself, but throw in the rewards and achievements that come from the Fair in Stardew Valley, and it's irresistible! Here's how you can be a champ, too.
How do you get first place and the Blue Ribbon achievement at the Fair in Stardew Valley?
In order to get first place at the Fall Fair in Stardew Valley, you need to enter items into the Grange display that are of high quality. Winning first place occurs if your Grange is awarded more than 90 points. Here's an example of a first place Grange I entered:
- (2) Cheese - Gold
- (1) Mayo - Gold
- (3) Large Egg - Iridium
- (2) Midnight Carp - Gold
- (1) Coffee Bean - Gold
Make sure you take advantage of all nine place tiles if you're trying to win. Items like Cheese, Goat Cheese, and Mayo are good entries. If you can catch Iridium grade fish, that would be especially helpful. Lastly, remember that crops can only reach Gold grade, not Iridium.
How to get the Blue Ribbon achievement in Stardew Valley
In order to get the Blue Ribbon achievement that was added in the 1.6 Update, all you have to do is win first place at the Fall Fair. Once you've done that, you'll be automatically awarded the achievement. It does not seem to work retroactively, so you won't get the achievement for winning first place before the 1.6 Update.

How to get the Blue Ribbon Hat in Stardew Valley
Once you've won first place in the fair, you can get your Blue Ribbon head accessory the next day. Do this by heading to the abandoned house with the mouse who sells hats. This is a little shack located South of the wizard's castle. Talk to the mouse and scroll down to find the Blue Ribbon hat for 1,000 gold.
How to improve your Grange Display at the Fair in Stardew Valley
Improving your Grange at the Fall Fair requires you utilizing your best skills and materials on the farm (or elsewhere if you have a specialty like fishing). Know what your character has a high level in, and also know what will help you reach higher quality items. This includes:
- Fertilizer
- Caring for your animals
- Leveling up your skills
- Opening and maintaining the greenhouse on your farm
- Fishing at the right times
- Having many machines at once, such as cheesemakers
Use trial and error to find what works for you, and what gets you the highest quality items.
