MP is important no matter what Job players have equipped in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Dying will reduce a player's maximum MP and it can feel like an uphill battle to raise it again. Using Soul Shield and Soul Break against enemies will restore MP while increasing the maximum MP of the player.
How to use Soul Shield and Soul Break
Dealing enough Break Damage to enemies will cause them to be vulnerable to a Soul Break. This will deal a lot of damage while also increasing the player's maximum MP and gaining some MP as well. Combo Abilities will use a bar of MP and do lots of Break Damage giving players the tools to spend MP while regaining it quickly. Dealing weapon attacks can also deplete the enemy's Break Gauge and certain Jobs excel at doing so.

Guarding attacks with Soul Shield will regain MP as well and the amount regain is directly proportional to the amount of damage the attack would have done to the player. Holding the Soul Shield will deplete it, making it more efficient to use it right before an attack lands to preserve it as much as possible. Soul Shield also has the added benefit of absorbing Purple Attacks to give the player charges of that Ability.
