How to do a Backward Recovery in Street Fighter 6

When they knock you down, you gotta keep getting back up!

Whether you're playing one of the iconic master characters or as your own custom character, it can be highly detrimental to be knocked down during the battle. This recovery period prevents you from moving or attacking and leaves you vulnerable to your opponent's combos. However, there are some ways you can try to escape that dangerous area, such as the Backward Recovery move. Here's how you can use it to your advantage.

How to do a Backwards Recovery in SF6

If you are knocked down by your opponent, whether by a throw, punch, or kick, you'll want to try and recover as quickly as possible so you can put your defense back up or return some attacks. Your character will automatically recover in place if you don't press anything. Still, you can also use a Backward Recovery to recover faster and put some space between you and your attacker.

To perform a Backward Recovery, you'll need to press two buttons or more buttons simultaneously (at the same time) as soon as your character hits the ground. They can be whatever buttons you choose. I find it the easiest to press the Light, X, and Medium, A, attack buttons on my Xbox controller. The most crucial part about hitting the Backward Recovery successfully is timing. You'll need to press them at the perfect moment when your character is just landing on the ground, and they will immediately perform the move.

The Backwards Recovery will look different for each character or stance you use. For Luke, it may be more of a vault backward, but for Lily, she uses her clubs to propel herself back up. You should also remember that a Backwards Recovery may not be the best move in every situation. It is great for creating space from your opponent, but it also means you could still put yourself in a vulnerable position when it could be better to go on the counterattack instead and catch your opponent off guard. Use it to your advantage when you feel like it is the best timing.
