Where to find the Energy Projectile Shield V1 in System Shock Remake

Tired of respawning? This should help.

The Energy and Projectile Shield is a lifesaver in the System Shock Remake. In exchange for battery power, it will absorb hits to keep you alive. Farming batteries isn't bad, and the Research floor has plenty to loot. Activating the Shield isn't explained well, but you can turn it on like other items via the menu. This is where you can find the Shield on the Research floor of System Shock.

This can be first found on the Research floor and is easily missable. When you get to the level, you'll need to find the Science Access card to open up many of the locked doors on the floor. For the Shield, however, you can go straight there without having to turn anything on. This requires you to go right, past the junction box, and to an area with a few mutants. These should be easy to deal with, depending on your difficulty settings. One of the storage rooms in the Delta Quadrant will be filled with radiation, and inside, you'll find the Shield sitting on the counter to the left.

Every item you collect that enhances your abilities can be turned on or off in the menu. You can open up your menu at any point to either the Wares section or just look at your HUD on the left and right to toggle these neural interfaces. The Shield one is the second one to the left with the shield icon and will automatically be turned off if you run out of energy. You'll want to keep an eye on this since all your targeting, energy weapons, and electricity damage will drain your energy. You'll need to turn this on whenever you're fully drained, so keep an eye out for charging stations!
