Tales of Arise will not leave you short of side quests to do. It has several activities that you can get stuck into besides the main storyline, and the good news is that if you are a keen fishing person, then the game has got you covered for catching stream swimmers too!
Tales of Arise has many great fishing spots, but they won't be available until later in the game. Keep the spots in mind, though, for when it does open up to you.
To start hooking little fishies, you will need to play through the main story to the point where Kisara joins your party. When this happens, Kisara will take you to a lovely fishing spot, which will unlock the ability to fish wherever you see a spot with the fishing icon.
To actually fish, do as follows:
- Approach a fishing spot and press the designated button when prompted on screen
- Choose your rod and your lure
- Cast your line
- You will then need to move your lure to attract fish
Different types of fish will require different movements for them to be attracted to your line. The direction required when trying to reel in a fish will appear on screen, and you will then need to press your stick in the corresponding direction.
Quick Time prompts will also appear from time to time when a fish is trying to free itself from the line. Press the button shown on the screen quickly to keep the fish on the line.
Rarer types of rods will give you a better efficiency rating when fishing, and you will be more successful in catching fish. There are also rarity levels for the lure types, but these will pertain to what types of fish you need to use the lure rather than an overall success rating.
If a fish is at the top of the list, it will be easier to catch, whereas fish at the bottom will require some patience and wiggle room… or rather the ability to stop their wiggle room!
