Azucena Milagros Ortiz Castillo is one of the newcomers in Tekken 8. Her style is officially MMA, but there are elements of other styles in the mix, especially breakdance. This Tekken 8 Azucena beginner's guide will show you the ropes of this interesting character.
Tekken 8 Azucena Tutorial - Combos and BNBs
Similar to Reina, Azucena is a very quick and nimble character with the ability to cover any distance in a second. Azucena also has various stances she can use, but her real strength is in the stance mix-ups. Her stances allow her to position herself in ways that will employ some destructive moves.

Azucena Combos - Important Moves
Azucena has several moves that can help you initiate and connect strings into combos. One of them is a special stance, while others are a Heat Engager and Heat Smash.
- Libertador - This is a crucial move for building combinations. By pressing f,3+4, Azucena will lean into the Libertador Stance. Although you cannot block during this stance, you will get automatic high reversals and low parries.
- Aeropress Pegar - By pressing f, 1+2, Azucena launches a long-range right straight that makes the opponent fly away. The interesting thing is that this move can sponge an opponent's attacks to power up.
- Tacon Plunger - Pressing b,3 makes Azucena move her left foot in a wide overhead arc, and she performs an axe kick. This kick also serves as a Heat Engager and opens for more devastating combos.
Tekken 8 Azucena Combo Examples
- d/f, 2 > d/f,4, 1 > b,4,3,4,3 - This combo starts with the launcher, continues into the juggle, and ends with the kick combination. It's easy to do but very damaging.
- d/f,2 > 4,3 > d,2,3 > Libertador 1+2 > f, 2,1,4 - This one starts with the same launcher, then continues in two juggles, the latter which activates the Liberador stance, and finishes with a three-piece mixup.
- d/f, 2 > d/f, 1 > d,2,3 > Libertador > 4,1,2 > Dash > f, 2, 1, 4 - This combo starts with the d/f,2 launcher as the previous two, but turns into a different juggle. It also uses both Libertador and Dash to connect strings. It's very difficult to perform, but it's worth the effort.
How to Read Movelist
This guide will employ standard Tekken novelist legend. For the new Tekken players, that means there are numbers instead of buttons. Number 1 is a left punch or X/Square button; number 2 is a right punch or Y/Triangle button. The same goes for kicks; number 3 is the left kick or A/X button, and number 4 is the right kick or B/Circle button.
The movement commands are in letters, so "f" is forward, "b" is back, "u" is up, and "d" is down. The same goes for combination; for example, d/f is down-forward. Capital letters mean that you hold the direction button instead of just pressing it.
