JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Spirit Tier List – Best Characters

It wouldn’t be a JoJo game if choosing your team didn’t require strategy, luck, and an aggressively dramatic pose. That's where our JoJo Golden Spirit Tier List comes into play.

Updated on September 29, 2026: Iggy joins the tank rankings, Jotaro moves to S+, and Speedwagon and Kenzou move up among the supports. I’ve also revised the World Boss team, corrected several skill descriptions, and added advice on choosing characters for story stages, Arena, and boss fights.

My JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Spirit tier list ranks the best characters based on their damage, survivability, crowd control, and team utility. Whether you’ve pulled several SSR fighters or are building around more accessible SR and R options, these rankings will help you assemble the best JJBA Golden Spirit team for the current roster.

JoJo's Golden Spirit Tier List TL;DR: Jotaro is my priority damage pick for boss-focused accounts; Caesar and Koichi remain excellent for waves. Giorno is the most flexible healing and Energy support, while Ermes and Iggy lead my protection picks. Build for the fight: the story team below and the World Boss team serve different purposes.

Best JoJos Golden Spirit characters are ranked separately as damage dealers, tanks, or supports because each role contributes something different to a team. The evaluations consider overall performance across game modes, consistency, skill synergy, and how much investment or team support each character needs to reach their full potential.

How I Rank Golden Spirit Characters

These are my recommendations for building a useful roster, based on character kits and available community results. They are not a record of new buffs or nerfs. Characters in the same tier are not ordered from strongest to weakest, and a role ranking is not a promise that every S+ character belongs in the same team.

  • Match the fight. Story waves reward area damage and control. Arena adds enemy targeting and counterplay. World Boss rewards damage you can sustain while surviving the encounter.
  • Check the investment. Star-gated passives, skill levels, badges, and separately acquired Abilities can change a character’s job. The descriptions discuss developed kits and flag the most important unlocks.
  • Read the chance correctly. A 100% base control chance is not a promise against resistance or immunity. Bosses can also invalidate effects that work well on normal enemies.
  • Use the actual Fighting Type for RUSH. These columns describe team roles. Lisa Lisa remains Assault and Koichi remains Special, even when you use them to support another carry. Three different Fighting Types must cast their Ultimates to trigger RUSH.
  • Compare like-for-like. Test substitutions on the same encounter at similar investment. A better score after several upgrades does not prove that a character swap alone caused it.

September roster note: Iggy became playable on September 10. This list covers 51 characters, including him. A character appearing in the story or as a boss does not make them recruitable.

JoJo’s Golden Spirit Character Tier List

A single overall ranking wouldn’t tell the whole story, since damage dealers, frontline characters, and supports are expected to do very different things. Each character is therefore ranked in the role that best matches what they bring to a team. Placements consider performance throughout progression, single-target and AoE potential, consistency, Arena utility, crowd control, survivability, and proven strengths in specific matchups.

S+ Best in role S Excellent A Strong with limits B Situational or budget C Narrow use cases

Golden Spirit Damage and Control Character Tier List

Damage dealers and control characters are ranked by how useful they are against bosses, groups of enemies, and in Arena. Don’t write off a lower-tier character, though - a specific status effect, control skill, or type of damage can make them the better pick for certain fights.

Character Evaluation
Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli Hamon
S+ SSR Ranged
  • Bubble Cutter Gliding combines penetrating basic attacks, recalled bubbles, and growing Attack Speed.
  • Bubble Lenses gives him ricocheting AoE without sacrificing pressure on the primary target.
  • Bubble Barrier reaches a 100% base Immobilize chance at maximum skill level and supplies another Attack Speed boost. Enemy resistance can still matter.
  • His S+ placement is driven by wave clearing and control. Against a lone World Boss, I would prioritize a built Jotaro and damage-enabling supports over automatically fielding Caesar.
Koichi Hirose in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Koichi Hirose Reverb Act 2
S+ SSR Special
  • Onomatopoeia turns an allied character into the center of repeated AoE attacks and delayed crowd control.
  • Smack can Immobilize enemies entering its area, giving him strong control over clustered fights.
  • His effects can add Effect Hit Up, Attack Down, and Spirit Influence while supplying excellent wave damage.
  • His ceiling depends on enemies entering the marked area and allies triggering Onomatopoeia, making him less immediate than Caesar.
Jotaro Kujo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Jotaro Kujo Star Platinum
S+ SSR Assault
  • My first damage investment for a boss-focused roster. His repeated basic-attack hits reward a team that keeps him attacking and supplies Energy.
  • You’ve Angered Me enhances five basic attacks into cone combos. Time Stop is an alternative Ultimate unlocked through his separate Ability, so compare the build you actually own.
  • Ora Ora Ora adds Stun chances and Defense Down. At three stars, Settled Debt converts stacks gained when he is attacked into temporary shielding and Attack after an Ultimate.
  • His five-star passive adds stacking damage against the same target. That is separate from Retribution, and neither mechanic makes a fresh copy equivalent to a fully built Jotaro.
Pet Shop in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Pet Shop Horus
S SR Special
  • Icicle Storm strikes a line, Freezes Chilling enemies, and stores five enhanced basic attacks.
  • Frost Realm supplies AoE damage and repeated Frostbite while Deadly Falcon amplifies damage against Chilling targets.
  • Hard crowd control, splash damage, and strong single-target pressure keep him useful in nearly every combat format.
  • His best damage and Freeze reliability depend on establishing Chill first.
Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Bruno Bucciarati Zipper Man
S SSR Agility
  • A 21-second Stealth opener lets him drain Energy with basic attacks before enemies can target him.
  • Unzip the Zipper combines heavy damage, buff removal, and a 100% base Stun chance at maximum skill level.
  • Zipper Space can remove a target from the battlefield for five seconds, giving him exceptional Arena disruption.
  • He attacks one target at a time and loses much of his defensive advantage once the opening Stealth expires.
Johngalli A. in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Johngalli A. Downtown Transfer
S SR Ranged
  • Targeting His Heart reaches a 2000% Attack payload and excels against durable single targets.
  • Manhattan Transfer strengthens his basic-attack cycle and helps him attack Stealthed enemies.
  • Read the Airflow supplies extra Crit Rate and removes Stealth when its conditions are met.
  • His Ultimate remains interruptible while channeling, and he offers no meaningful AoE pressure.
F.F. in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
F.F. F.F.
S SSR Ranged
  • Plankton Colony supplies a second attacker. Recasting the Ultimate restores the existing Colony to full HP and repeats its nearby damage and Stun.
  • Micro Plankton gains damage over time against Dampness. Her unlocked passives add stat stealing and extra Colony procs, making sustained fights a good fit.
  • My Soul Is Over There is a later self-rescue that recalls the Colony when F.F. is low on HP. She does not replace your team healer.
  • Strong sustained boss damage earns S tier, but her Colony cannot trigger her badge’s extra skill effects. Reproduce and Regenerate adds damage and Micro Plankton; it is not a healing skill.
Hol Horse in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Hol Horse The Emperor
S SR Ranged
  • The Emperor fires ten shots over five seconds, with additional shots gained from Attack Speed Up.
  • Attack Marks, Defense penetration, and Energy restoration from critical hits create an exceptional boss-damage ceiling.
  • He can beat more versatile S-tier characters when allowed to channel his full Ultimate into one target.
  • Any crowd control interrupts the channel, and he cannot use basic attacks while firing.
N'doul in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
N’doul Geb
S SR Agility
  • God of Earth delivers three seconds of heavy damage with repeated Stun chances.
  • Water Assassination removes 300 Energy when the target lacks a Shield.
  • Sand Sonar strips enemy Stealth and grants Crit Up, while Perimeter Defense supplies an emergency Shield.
  • His channel is interruptible, and Shields shut down the strongest part of his Energy-denial skill.
Tarukus in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Tarukus Martial Arts
S SR Assault
  • Hell Heaven Snake Kill combines heavy damage, Damage Amplification, and a 100% base Suppress chance at maximum skill level.
  • Chain Death Match pulls the farthest enemy into melee range and disrupts defensive positioning.
  • Strangle executes targets below 20% HP, while Zombie supplies continual healing and life drain.
  • Nearly all of his offensive value is single-target, and Resilience is his only broad team contribution.
Mohammed Avdol in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Mohammed Avdol Magician’s Red
A SSR Special
  • Crossfire Hurricane Special converts three basic attacks into heavy hits with splash damage, while his Ultimate can blanket the enemy team in Burn.
  • In the Beginning, There Was Fire restores Energy for each Burning target, letting him cycle much faster in multi-enemy fights than in a pure boss race.
  • Red Bind adds Immobilize and more Burn, and Magician’s Red increases the Burn damage enemies receive - excellent for Burn-focused and Arena teams.
  • He remains a very strong AoE/PvP attacker, but enhanced basics do not generate Energy and his single-target ceiling is less reliable than the S-tier boss specialists.
Cioccolata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Cioccolata Green Tea
A SSR Special
  • Unbridled Malice attacks every enemy and establishes Mold Infection immediately, giving him excellent opening pressure in wave and Arena fights.
  • Spread Mold refreshes the status and lowers Effect Res around the primary target, making follow-up control and debuffs easier to land.
  • Crowd control from any ally can generate additional Mold Infection, so he scales particularly well in control-heavy teams.
  • His Mold disappears when he leaves the battlefield and his direct boss damage is only average, which makes him a powerful specialist rather than an S-tier universal carry.
Diavolo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Diavolo Emperor Crimson
A SSR Agility
  • A ten-second Stealth opener adds damage to every successful attack during its duration.
  • Finished Now deals a heavy hit and gains missing-HP damage against an Isolated target.
  • Skills apply Isolated, grant Damage Res, and support Defense penetration and Energy restoration.
  • He is a durable assassin, but the kit has no meaningful AoE and needs Isolated for its full payoff.
Secco in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Secco Sanctuary
A SR Assault
  • Ground Liquefaction makes nearby enemies Grounded, preventing them from escaping his Ultimate area.
  • Block Down and Defense Down create a large damage opening for everyone attacking his targets.
  • Repeated Shields and healing from Rockfall Spear let him remain active in the middle of a fight.
  • His pressure is concentrated around a limited area, so mobile or spread-out enemies reduce his impact.
Prosciutto in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Prosciutto Thankful Death
A SSR Assault
  • I’ll Kill Him! applies Senility to every enemy as soon as battle begins.
  • Thankful Death repeatedly damages all enemies and adds more Senility, while Accelerated Aging removes a buff.
  • Prosciutto’s Resolve executes weakened enemies, and Senility briefly remains after his defeat.
  • His ordinary damage is less impressive when enemies remain above the execution threshold.
Akira Otoishi in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Akira Otoishi Chili Pepper
A SR Agility
  • Basic attacks drain Energy, and Chili Pepper deals more Ultimate damage as the target’s Energy falls.
  • Electricity stacks add damage to Kill You Nice and Easy and restore HP when gained.
  • His battery can prevent one defeat and return him to battle in an enhanced state.
  • Electricity continually drains during battle, and he offers no AoE or protection for allies.
Guido Mista in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Guido Mista Six Bullets
A SR Ranged
  • Direct Hit! delivers a heavy single-target attack with built-in Defense penetration.
  • Cut Through the Darkness fires six shots and can restore Energy when it defeats enemies.
  • Critical hits can add more Defense penetration and Energy, supporting repeated damage cycles.
  • Quiet Concentration needs him to remain stationary, while Tetraphobia reduces the Hit Rate of every fourth attack.
Viviano Westwood in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Viviano Westwood Starlight Waves
A SR Assault
  • I Am the Strongest! reaches a 100% base Stun chance at maximum skill level before striking nearby enemies and applying Block Down.
  • Meteorite Fall gains additional damage against Burning targets.
  • Skill casts grant Attack Up and eventually trigger additional meteor strikes.
  • His best damage needs Burn support, and the kit provides no healing or protection for allies.
Melone in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Melone Babyhead
A SR Agility
  • Melone remains off the battlefield while Babyhead fights with his attributes.
  • Babyhead gains Growth over time, enters battle in Stealth, and can become Stealthed again at low HP.
  • Remove the Throat briefly makes Babyhead Unselectable before dealing damage and potentially Silencing the target.
  • The kit is single-target only, and Melone flees if Babyhead falls while no other ally remains.
Chaka in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Chaka Anubis
A SR Assault
  • Master of the Sword grants large Attack and Attack Speed bonuses that can grow through assists.
  • Cleave You in Two! attacks a cone, applies Defense Down, and gains faster cooldowns from basic attacks.
  • Defense penetration gives him reliable sustained offense after his buffs are established.
  • He needs time or assists to snowball and lacks the immediate hard control found on higher-ranked attackers.
Pesci in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Pesci Fisher Man
A R Support
  • Reel You In can begin battle with a full Ultimate gauge at maximum skill level.
  • Fisher Man locks the farthest enemy in a three-second Stun while repeatedly pulling them closer.
  • Damage taken during the channel is partially transferred to the hooked target.
  • Crowd control or dispelling the target’s Stun interrupts the Ultimate, and Pesci has no AoE.
Narancia Ghirga in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Narancia Ghirga Li’l Bomber
A SR Special
  • Aerial Bomb provides immediate AoE followed by persistent damage and Burn chances.
  • Get Him, Li’l Bomber! attacks a long area, Immobilizes briefly, and applies Damage Down.
  • Breath Tracking can inflict Suffocation and remove Stealth, while Radar Sign increases allied Effect Hit.
  • His single-target damage is only moderate, so his value comes from combining AoE with debuffs.
Formaggio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Formaggio Tiny Feet
A SR Agility
  • Way of Assassination provides a 100% base chance to inflict a four-second Stun at maximum skill level and pushes secondary targets away.
  • Kill Every One of You can Shrink the primary target for three seconds.
  • His low-HP trigger restores health, grants Stealth, and accelerates Energy generation.
  • The comeback activates once, and his sustained damage is less impressive outside Arena control scenarios.
Mario Zucchero in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Mario Zucchero Tender Machine
A SR Agility
  • Tender Machine immediately breaks the target’s Shield before applying Deflate.
  • Rapier Jab supplies another heavy hit and removes one buff.
  • He can outperform higher-ranked attackers when a dangerous Shield must be removed immediately.
  • His opening Stealth lasts only five seconds, and the kit has no AoE or team support.
Anjuro Katagiri in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Anjuro Katagiri Aqua Necklace
A R Special
  • His air humidifier can repeatedly apply Dampness across a wide area for 20 seconds, which is particularly useful for characters that exploit Dampness such as F.F.
  • Liquid Attack delivers three rapid hits on a short cooldown, while Dampness unlocks missing-HP damage and additional attacks against nearby affected enemies.
  • He can outperform his tier in a dedicated Dampness setup or long clustered fight where the humidifier has time to work.
  • Slow setup, modest standalone pressure, and no hard control, sustain, or ally protection make him harder to justify than the broader A-tier damage/control picks.
Sports Maxx in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Sports Maxx Limp Viscuit
B SR Assault
  • Corpse Manipulation damages three enemies and repeatedly attempts to apply Defense Down.
  • Limp Viscuit can add Damage Amplification and Bleed across numerous damage instances.
  • After fatal damage, he remains Unselectable and active for up to ten more seconds.
  • Random targeting and chance-based debuffs make him less consistent than the leading A-tier characters.
Blueford in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Blueford Swordsmanship
B R Assault
  • Coup De Grace! gains additional damage from the target’s missing HP.
  • His Ultimate applies up to eight stacks of Defense Down at maximum skill level.
  • Life-Leeching Hair provides passive recovery, current-HP drain, and extra healing after a defeat.
  • He is a strong budget finisher but lacks hard control and must fight at close range.
Gwess in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Gwess G.G. Dolls
B R Agility
  • Good Boy! delivers a 1500% Attack hit and Shrinks the target for five seconds.
  • Her remaining passives add damage against Shrunken enemies and punish them for attacking her.
  • The long Shrink can disrupt an important enemy when Gwess is protected from control.
  • Any crowd control affecting Gwess removes every Shrink she applied, and she has no AoE.
Captain Dragon in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Captain Dragon Dark Blue Moon
B SR Special
  • Dark Blue Moon channels AoE damage around its target while building Barnacle stacks.
  • Power Absorption adds more Barnacle and restores Energy against an already affected target.
  • Water Is My Home Turf increases allied Debuff Proficiency while he remains in battle.
  • The four-second Ultimate channel is vulnerable to interruption and prevents basic attacks.
Keicho Nijimura in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Keicho Nijimura Worse Company
B SR Ranged
  • Worse Company summons a tank, while Apache Helicopter adds another attacker capable of applying Burn.
  • Combat Position grants Attack Up and Attack Speed Up to Keicho and his summoned allies.
  • Additional bodies create steady pressure and can absorb enemy attention.
  • Summoned attacks cannot trigger Keicho’s additional skill or badge effects, and the kit lacks hard control.
Squalo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Squalo Crush
B R Agility
  • Rip Out Throat deals damage for four seconds while keeping the target Silenced.
  • Latched On reaches the farthest enemy within range and removes 200 Energy.
  • Instant Flash pulls the Ultimate target closer, adding useful disruption to a budget character.
  • The Ultimate is interruptible, and Squalo contributes nothing against additional enemies.
Straizo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Straizo Martial Arts
B R Agility
  • Space Ripper Stingy Eyes can strike several enemies positioned in a straight line.
  • Vampirism provides passive healing, current-HP drain, and recovery after defeating an enemy.
  • Hamon Neutralization prevents the additional damage caused by Hamon Energy effects.
  • The line attack loses damage after each enemy hit, and he lacks crowd control or allied utility.
Sale in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Sale Arts & Crafts
B R Ranged
  • Power Release delivers a 1500% Attack shot when its three-second channel completes.
  • Flawless Fixity applies a two-second Immobilize through a regular skill, subject to the target’s resistance or immunity.
  • Nowhere to Run can Incapacitate nearby attackers, while Fixed Position resists displacement.
  • His main attack is easy to interrupt, and he has no AoE or allied support.
Shigekiyo Yangu in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Shigekiyo Yangu Harvest
B R Special
  • Harvest channels for five seconds and removes 200 Energy per second from enemies in its area.
  • Numerous damage instances can trigger extra damage, Bleed, and Effect Res Down.
  • He can outperform his tier when Energy denial is more important than raw damage.
  • The channel is vulnerable to crowd control, and his direct damage remains modest.
Leaky Eye Luca in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Leaky Eye Luca Shovel Frenzy
C R Assault
  • Shovel Swirl gives him uncomplicated close-range AoE, and basic attacks reduce Shovel Smite’s cooldown for a steady early-game damage loop.
  • Skill casts grant Crit Up, while assists can build Attack Up and help him snowball through weaker progression waves.
  • That simplicity makes him usable before a roster is developed, but his output falls behind rapidly once stronger R/SR options are built.
  • He brings no crowd control, Defense Down, sustain, Energy manipulation, or team utility, leaving very little endgame reason to field him.
Mariah in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Mariah Bast
C R Support
  • Magnetic Force enables multi-target Stun, Suppress chances, and extra damage when affected enemies stand together.
  • Her control can swing an Arena fight when enemies remain clustered and she is left untouched.
  • Stick Together cannot be used until Magnetic Force has been established.
  • Any crowd control affecting Mariah removes every Magnetic Force stack, making the entire setup unusually fragile.

Golden Spirit Tank Character Tier List

Tank rankings weigh personal durability and protection for teammates. Iggy’s placement is provisional, based on his documented kit. A top tank is valuable when survival is the problem, but can cost damage when your World Boss team already survives.

Character Evaluation
Ermes Costello in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Ermes Costello Smack
S+ SSR Defense
  • Smack opens battle with a large Shield, while Duplicated Form repeatedly refreshes her protection and Defense Up.
  • Hypersonic Harpoon rescues the lowest-HP ally with a massive Shield and can Stun nearby enemies for four seconds.
  • Her alternative Ultimate pulls enemies into a cone before delivering another four-second Stun.
  • Her emergency protection keeps her in S+ alongside Iggy. Choose between their tools and your existing investment rather than replacing a built Ermes automatically.
Iggy in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Iggy The Fool
S+ SSR Defense
  • Provisional S+: Iggy’s kit offers enough layered protection to put him alongside Ermes, with particular value in compact formations.
  • The Fool starts him with a Sand Shield and creates a two-tile sandstorm. Allies inside receive repeated Defense-scaling Shields and reduced ranged damage.
  • Later passives add brief Stun procs, Attack Speed Down, and reduced enemy healing. Build around his HP and Defense rather than treating him as an Attack-based carry.
  • His five-star rescue protects and heals a critically injured ally but Incapacitates them for five seconds. That lost attacking time matters in score races; the full rescue is not available on a one-copy Iggy.
Santviento in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Santviento Martial Arts
S SR Defense
  • Devouring Cell delivers Defense-based damage and a massive heal that grows as his HP falls.
  • Pillar Man continually stacks Defense Up, making him stronger during long battles.
  • Absorber increases Max HP after nearby defeats, while Meat Invade supplies persistent percentage-based healing.
  • He is the best self-sustaining anchor, but he provides no Shields, healing, or emergency protection to allies.
Leone Abbacchio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Leone Abbacchio Moody Jazz
A SR Defense
  • Replay forces the enemy attacking Abbacchio to target Moody Jazz instead.
  • After Moody Jazz expires, Abbacchio receives an enormous Defense-based Shield.
  • Pride and Honor supplies another Shield and Block Up, while his low-HP passive adds a final defensive failsafe.
  • He is excellent against predictable aggro but offers little protection when several allies are attacked simultaneously.
Ghiaccio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Ghiaccio White Ice
A SR Defense
  • White Ice Gently Weeps grants nearby allies up to 35% ranged Damage Resistance, Block Up, and retaliation damage.
  • Frost Armor adds more personal ranged resistance and major mitigation against attackers with insufficient Attack.
  • Chill, Attack Down, and Freeze give him meaningful control beyond raw durability.
  • He can outperform higher-ranked tanks against ranged-heavy opposition but loses much of his identity in other matchups.
Rudol von Stroheim in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Rudol von Stroheim Power of Science
A SR Defense
  • Embodiment of German Intellect begins battle with five stacks of Defense Up at maximum skill level.
  • Human Greatness and Abdominal Machine Gun provide strong Defense-based self-healing.
  • Repeated skill casts add Block Up, giving him reliable personal durability.
  • Cyborg Form Stuns him for three seconds during his emergency repair, and he offers no team protection.
Rubber Soul in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Rubber Soul Yellow Temperance
B R Defense
  • Yellow Temperance stacks on enemies whenever he deals damage or receives melee damage.
  • I Have Luck on My Side consumes nearby stacks to heal him, while Slow Eater converts damage into more recovery.
  • Melee Damage Resistance makes him a serviceable budget counter to close-range attackers.
  • Consuming stacks resets part of his setup, and he provides no Shields, hard control, or protection for allies.

Golden Spirit Support and Enabler Character Tier List

This part of our JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Spirit tier list covers healing, cleansing, Energy generation, damage amplification, crowd control, and other effects that improve the performance or survival of allied characters.

Character Evaluation
Giorno Giovanna in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Giorno Giovanna Golden Wind
S+ SSR Support
  • Life Energy Detection restores Energy to every ally at battle start and whenever Giorno casts a skill.
  • His healing Ultimate restores up to 70% of Giorno’s Max HP and adds Regeneration to the target.
  • Reflective Shield protects the healed ally, while Golden Growth returns additional Energy.
  • His alternate Ultimate provides heavy damage, five-second Incapacitate, and 40% increased damage taken, but the kit has no Cleanse.
Tonio Trendy in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Tonio Trendy Pole Jam
S+ SR Support
  • Italian Cuisine continuously heals allies within three tiles and becomes permanently stronger after each of its first two Ultimates.
  • Skills and the Ultimate can remove up to five debuffs from every affected ally.
  • A Chef’s Purpose improves incoming healing and Shields, while Welcome! supplies Energy over time.
  • Tonio never uses basic attacks, and strong crowd control temporarily disables his passive healing.
Joseph Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Joseph Joestar Hermit Purple
S+ SR Support
  • Hermit Purple can Stun the closest enemy, then pull and Immobilize additional targets, giving Joseph unusually strong offensive control for a Support character.
  • Part of the damage taken by affected enemies can be transferred between them, dramatically increasing the value of allied AoE against clustered targets.
  • Spirit Photograph stacks Damage Amplification on a priority target and removes Stealth, so he improves both boss focus-fire and Arena target access.
  • He provides no conventional healing, but the combination of control, damage amplification, Stealth removal, and teamwide offensive enablement makes him one of the strongest endgame supports.
Robert E. O. Speedwagon in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Robert E· O· Speedwagon Martial Arts
S+ SR Support
  • Shields, a debuff removal, and healing for shielded allies give him a useful defensive role alongside his offensive buffs.
  • His three-star passive restores his own Energy when an ally uses an Ultimate, subject to a cooldown. It does not refund Energy to every ally.
  • At five stars, skill casts grant Attack Speed Up to Empowered allies. That makes him especially useful beside basic-attack carries once the passive is unlocked.
  • S+ reflects his developed support kit. At low stars he lacks those later benefits, and his healing still relies on keeping Shields active.
Kenzou in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Kenzou Dragon’s Dream
S SR Support
  • The Direction of Safety unlocks at two stars and adds team Crit Rate, reaching 10% at its highest skill level.
  • His Ultimate reduces a target’s Crit Res, and Drowning Hand can Silence. The value of each effect depends on the enemy’s stats and immunities.
  • I rate him higher for damage-focused teams that already have enough healing. Test him in a flex slot before investing in another attacker.
  • He brings no team healing or protective Shield. His S rank is for offensive support, not for replacing Giorno or Tonio in a struggling progression team.
Lang Rangler in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Lang Rangler Jumpin’ Jack Spark
S SR Support
  • Zero-Gravity Zone increases ranged damage taken by enemies inside it by up to 45%.
  • Enemies remaining in the zone are Stunned, while unshielded targets lose Energy and take additional ranged damage.
  • Jumpin’ Jack Spark grants Attack Speed Up to every ally at battle start and on Ultimate use.
  • His S rank applies to ranged-focused teams. Enemies leaving the zone or remaining Shielded reduce his value, and melee teams usually want a different support.
Lisa Lisa in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Lisa Lisa Hamon
A SR Assault
  • Hamon Punishment drags enemies along its path before delivering a four-second Stun.
  • Hamon Coach restores up to 200 Energy to the ally with the highest Attack at battle start and after every skill cast.
  • Snake Muffler makes her Unselectable and grants a Shield, helping her survive aggressive Arena openings.
  • She has no team healing or Cleanse and only accelerates one primary attacker.
Will A. Zeppeli in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
Will A. Zeppeli Hamon
A SR Support
  • Breathing Technique heals the lowest-HP ally while restoring their Energy for five seconds.
  • Deep Pass Overdrive grants the highest-Attack ally five Attack Up stacks and rapid Energy restoration.
  • Sendo Wave Kick provides a 100% base Stun chance at maximum skill level, and his skills apply Block Down.
  • He lacks Cleanse and AoE support, while both major buffs focus on a single ally.

Best Team Comps in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit

Golden Spirit teams have five slots. These are recommended starting lineups for different jobs, with substitutions for the characters you own. Each covers at least three Fighting Types, but RUSH still requires those types to use their Ultimates. Change positioning, skills, and the flex slots for the encounter.

The best five-character JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit team compositions, including their roles, synergies, weaknesses, and substitutions.
Team Composition How It Works
Story / Waves Bubble Beatdown
Ermes Costello in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Ermes Costello Tank / Rescue
Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli Main DPS
Koichi Hirose in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Koichi Hirose AoE / Control
Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Joseph Joestar Grouping / Amp
Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Giorno Giovanna Heal / Energy
RUSH: 4 Fighting Types Best for: Story, waves, general play

This is my balanced story-and-wave recommendation. It combines area damage, grouping, healing, and protection, but I would use a different lineup for a single-target score race.

  • Caesar handles the bulk of the damage, while Koichi's Onomatopoeia adds more AoE and repeatable Immobilize around its carrier.
  • Joseph pulls enemies together, links their damage taken, and amplifies priority targets, giving Caesar's penetrating bubbles and Koichi's area damage much better targets.
  • Ermes protects the frontline and rescues a pressured ally. Iggy is an alternative when your formation can stay inside his sandstorm; check his unlocked passives before expecting the full kit.
  • Giorno supplies healing and team Energy so the whole control-and-damage cycle starts earlier and repeats more often. The main weakness is still positioning, since several effects reward a compact formation.
Useful swaps: Tonio Trendy can replace Joseph when cleansing and heavier sustain matter more than grouping. Santviento is a sturdier self-sustain option over Ermes for long fights where protecting the backline is less important.
World BossJotaro Damage Core
Jotaro Kujo in Golden SpiritJotaro KujoMain Damage
F.F. in Golden SpiritF.F.Sustained Damage
Koichi Hirose in Golden SpiritKoichi HiroseDamage / Utility
Robert E. O. Speedwagon in Golden SpiritRobert E. O. SpeedwagonShield / Attack Speed
Giorno Giovanna in Golden SpiritGiorno GiovannaHeal / Energy
RUSH: Assault + Ranged + Special + SupportBest for: Sustained World Boss damage

Start with Jotaro, F.F., and Giorno, then test Koichi and Speedwagon in the remaining slots. A published first-month World Boss sample supports that core, but it predates Iggy and is observational evidence, not a controlled comparison of equally built teams.

  • Jotaro and F.F. provide the damage. Keep Giorno on the healing option when you need sustain; F.F.’s personal recovery does not heal the team.
  • Koichi adds damage around his marked ally. Check deployment and the encounter’s positioning rather than assuming his area effects will always hit.
  • Speedwagon protects shielded allies and, with his later passive unlocked, adds Attack Speed for Empowered allies. A low-star copy will not provide every benefit described here.
  • When survival is comfortable, try Kenzou as an offensive support. When it is not, adjust protection before chasing a higher theoretical damage total.
Useful swaps: Try Bruno for a single-target matchup, Caesar when extra enemies make area damage useful, or Tonio when cleansing is the immediate problem. Without Jotaro, build around your developed Hol Horse or Johngalli and adapt the supports; this is a starting point, not a mandatory five-character roster.
Arena Control Full Lockdown
Ermes Costello in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Ermes Costello Tank / Rescue
Koichi Hirose in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Koichi Hirose AoE / Immobilize
Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Joseph Joestar Pull / Stun
Jotaro Kujo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Jotaro Kujo Carry Hunter / Control
Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Giorno Giovanna Heal / Incapacitate
RUSH: 4 Fighting Types Best for: Arena, carry shutdown

This comp wins by collapsing the enemy formation, chaining crowd control, and then letting Jotaro remove the most dangerous opposing carry before it can stabilize.

  • Joseph starts the disruption by Stunning the closest target, pulling nearby enemies together, and Immobilizing the clump for Koichi's Onomatopoeia pressure.
  • Koichi repeatedly punishes grouped enemies with AoE and more control, while Ermes protects whichever ally gets focused first and adds another source of Stun.
  • Jotaro gives the lineup a direct answer to enemy carries. Time Stop targets the highest-Attack enemy within its targeting range, while You've Angered Me offers repeated cone attacks. His regular skill provides the Stun checks; the two Ultimates are alternative builds.
  • Giorno supplies early Energy. Choose his healing Ultimate for sustain or his alternate Ultimate for offensive control; do not count on using both at once. Resistance, cleansing, and immunity can disrupt this plan.
Useful swaps: Caesar is the best Jotaro replacement if you do not own him or his Time Stop Ability, trading carry assassination for stronger general AoE. Tonio Trendy can replace Joseph against teams that win through debuffs, while Iggy or Ghiaccio can replace Ermes when their ranged protection suits the matchup.
Ranged Synergy Zero-Gravity Firing Squad
Ghiaccio in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Ghiaccio Tank / Ranged Counter
Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli AoE DPS
Hol Horse in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Hol Horse Single-Target DPS
Lang Rangler in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Lang Rangler Ranged Amp / Zone
Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Giorno Giovanna Heal / Energy
RUSH: Defense + Ranged + Support Best for: Stationary targets, ranged matchups

Lang Rangler turns one patch of the map into a shooting gallery, Caesar handles everything standing in a line or cluster, and Hol Horse deletes the target that actually needs to die.

  • Zero-Gravity Zone makes enemies take substantially more ranged damage, while unshielded targets lose Energy and take additional damage when ranged attacks connect.
  • Lang's team-wide Attack Speed Up is excellent for Caesar's basic-attack engine and especially valuable for Hol Horse because more Attack Speed can add shots to The Emperor.
  • Caesar supplies the comp's wave clear and control, while Hol Horse supplies single-target pressure if he can complete his Ultimate channel.
  • Ghiaccio makes the lineup especially strong into enemy ranged teams, and Giorno covers healing and Energy. Mobile enemies leaving Lang's zone and repeated interruption on Hol Horse are the two biggest ways to reduce its ceiling.
Useful swaps: Johngalli A. can replace Hol Horse when you want Stealth detection and a less Attack-Speed-dependent single-target carry. Koichi Hirose is the better replacement for Hol Horse in wave-heavy content, while Ermes can replace Ghiaccio against mixed damage.
All SR Budget Bullet Train
Santviento in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Santviento Self-Sustain Tank
Hol Horse in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Hol Horse Main DPS
Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Joseph Joestar Grouping / Amp
Lang Rangler in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Lang Rangler Ranged Amp / Speed
Tonio Trendy in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Tonio Trendy Heal / Cleanse
RUSH: Defense + Ranged + Support Cost: No SSR characters

This SSR-free lineup builds around Hol Horse, with Lang improving ranged pressure and Tonio keeping the team healthy. Joseph provides control for waves; replace him when the encounter calls for a different form of support.

  • Joseph pulls enemies together, controls the clump, and links their damage taken, giving Hol Horse and the rest of the team more valuable targets instead of only feeding one carry Energy.
  • Lang supplies Attack Speed Up for extra Hol Horse Ultimate shots and creates a zone that amplifies ranged damage, making him the key offensive enabler of the lineup.
  • Santviento anchors through Defense stacking and self-healing, while Tonio adds team healing, Cleanse, Shields, and Energy so the comp can survive longer fights without an SSR support.
  • Hol Horse's Ultimate is still a vulnerable channel, and Santviento cannot rescue pressured backliners. Against heavy dive or repeated crowd control, the team's damage ceiling drops sharply.
Useful swaps: Lisa Lisa can replace Joseph in pure single-target fights when directly feeding Energy to Hol Horse matters more than grouping. Will A. Zeppeli is another boss-oriented swap, while Robert E. O. Speedwagon can replace Tonio when you want stronger Shield-based protection.

Golden Spirit Tier List FAQ

Is Iggy better than Ermes?

I rate both S+ for protection, with Iggy’s placement provisional. Iggy rewards a compact team that benefits from repeated Shields, while Ermes remains a strong rescue and control option. Their star level and your positioning matter more than replacing one simply because the other is newer.

Do I need Jotaro’s Time Stop Ability?

Time Stop unlocks an alternative Ultimate. Jotaro also has a basic-attack build through You’ve Angered Me, so owning him and owning his separate Ability are different things. Choose the available build that fits your fight and supports.

Are SR characters worth building?

Yes. Tonio supplies healing and cleansing, Joseph offers grouping and disruption, and developed Speedwagon, Kenzou, or Lang can improve a team’s damage. Pick the missing function in your lineup rather than filling every slot with an SSR.

Why does a lower-tier character perform better on my account?

Compare stars, skill levels, badges, equipped Abilities, and the encounter before comparing tier letters. A developed specialist can outperform a new top-tier pull, particularly when the fight rewards that specialist’s exact mechanic.
