What are Disciplines in Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong?

Disciplines are skills unique to each of the Vampires in Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong. Emem, Leysha, and Galeb all have unique strengths and weaknesses in encounters, and players must use each character's skills to overcome the obstacles they'll face in Swansong. Unlike Talents, Disciplines level up individually depending on characters.

Auspex

  • Supernatural perception. Once activated, it heightens your five senses and allows you to see possible futures and read your enemies. Each additional tier increases Auspex level by one.
    • Tier I: Heightened Senses: Actives Auspex vision. Has no Hunter cost and reveals interactions between the five senses. Hunger cost depends on your Auspex rating and situation difficulty.
      • Cost: N/A
    • Tier II: Psychometry: Auspex Vision reveals interactions related to memories of an item. Hunger cost depends on Auspex rating and the difficulty of the interaction.
      • Cost: 45 Upgrade Points
    • Tier III: Premonition: Auspex vision reveals premonitions. Premonitions offer a potential vision of the future.
      • Cost: 90 Upgrade Points
    • Tier IV: Scry The Soul: Auspex vision reveals the aura of a target, which provides information about their nature or resonance. No Hunger cost.
      • Cost: 120 Upgrade Points
    • Tier V: Scry The Mind: Reveals if your opponent is preparing to focus their skill or not. Generates one Hunter.

Celerity

  • Discipline that allows you to traverse the environment at high speed and slows down your perception of time. Each upgrade increases Celerity level by one.
    • Tier I: Blink: Activates Celerity Vision. Has no Hunger cost. Reveals anchor points in the environment that Emem can reach using Blink. Blink allows you to move from one anchor point to another. Generates three Hunger.
      • Cost: N/A
    • Tier II: Fleetness: In certain situations, this allows you to slow down the environment around the character while using Celerity vision. No Hunger cost. Celerity interactions like Pickpocket are available in this state. Hunter cost depends on Celerity rating and interaction difficulty.

    • Tier III: Speed: Blink generates one less Hunger
      • Cost: 90 Upgrade Points
    • Tier IV: Out of Time: Celerity options become available in Dialogue. The Hunger costs of Celerity rating depends on the difficulty of the interaction.

    • Tier II: Velvet Glove: +1 Presence
      • Cost: 25 Upgrade Points
    • Tier III: Silver Tongue: Dialogue power that prevents your opponent from focusing a Skill. Generates two Hunger.
      • Cost: 45 Upgrade Points
    • Tier IV: Scapular Demand: When one of your actions increases the risk of an opponent's Focus, the increase is reduced by 30%.

It is possible to read documents and examine objects, but they can't be taken. Electronic equipment can still detect Leysha. Also unlocks Mask of a Thousand Faces: Leysha can copy the uniform of a target (generates two Hunger) that she can activate from a Safe Zone. Activation generates no Hunger.
      • Cost: N/A
    • Tier II: Cloak of Concealment: Allows you to hide objects from the eyes of onlookers or to interfere with electronic equipment. Using this Discipline on electronic equipment makes it unable to detect Leysha. Hunger cost depends on Obfuscate rating and interaction difficulty.
      • Cost: 45 Upgrade Points
    • Tier III: Janus: Leysha can copy one additional uniform
      • Cost: 90 Upgrade Points
    • Tier IV: Doppelganger: Allows a vampire to steal someone's identity (generates two Hunger) and enables the vampire to impersonate that person. The vampire must speak to the target to gather information about them before their identity can be stolen. Can only be activated in Safe Zones. Activation generates no Hunger.
      • Cost: 120 Upgrade Points
    • Tier V: Vanish: Mask of a Thousand Faces and Doppelganger no longer require a Safe Zone and can be activated anywhere.
      • Cost: 180 Upgrade Points

Dominate

  • The ability to command others and turn them into puppets. Each upgrade increases Dominate's rank by one point.
    • Tier I: Compel: Gives access to Dominate as a Dialogue choice.

  • With this power, the vampire is able to detect the supernatural, both in the creatures around it and the traces they leave behind.

Fortitude

  • Physical and mental Supernatural resilience. Each upgrade increases Fortitude by one.
    • Tier I: Durability: Available only in exploration. Ability to withstand physical pain. The Hunger cost depends on your Fortitude rating and the difficulty of the interaction.
      • Cost: N/A
    • Tier II: Walls of the Mind: Defends against the opponent's Skills. Increases the chance of winning by 50% in case of a tie. Generates two Hunger.

    • Tier III: Mental Fortress: Walls of the Mind generates one less Hunger.
