Farming mounts in World of Warcraft is like playing a lottery weekly in Azeroth. There are typically several limits in a place like the weekly lockout for instances and encounters and however many characters a player has at level to complete the encounters. We have found that farming mounts is easier to do in raids.
Take Invincible, the winged skeletal horse which drops from the Lich King at the end of Heroic Icecrown Citadel. Players will want to have as many max-level characters as possible to farm it effectively. The more max-level characters a player has, the more attempts (once per character) they get per weekly raid lockout. This allows the player to complete the raid solo, negating rolling against anyone that helped, should the mount drop.

Many mounts, like Invincible, are locked behind challenging content such as raids. But as content ages, players will be able to tackle it with a small party or solo. Bear in mind that many mounts have abysmally low drop rates, and there is a reason this is called "farming." It will take time and patience to get many of the most sought-after mounts World of Warcraft has to offer.
