How to find and defeat the Wandering Swordsman in WoW Season of Discovery

Wondering where you can find the NPC that drops the Blood Frenzy Rune?

The Wandering Swordsman is an NPC that roams the starting zones of most of WoW Season of Discovery's starting zones. If you're a Warrior, you need to find and defeat him for a rune, so here's how you can.

Where is the Wandering Swordsman in WoW Season of Discovery?

As his name implies, the Wandering Swordsmen wanders the area he is in, looking for the next challenge. Warrior players must '/duel' him and win in order to get the Blood Frezny rune, but finding him is the real issue. Thankfully, we know that he specifically wanders around WoW Classic's starting zones, namely:

  • Tirisfal Glades
  • Durotar
  • Mulgore
  • Dun Morogh
  • Elwynn Forest
  • Teldrassil

There are no hard set locations for the Wandering Swordsman to be at any given time. This makes finding him difficult as even if I provide coordinates, there is no guarantee he would be at the ones given. Instead, I highly recommend going the social MMORPG route and inquiring about the Wandering Swordsman's whereabouts in your server's world chat.

Players are actively searching for runes right now, and the Blood Frenzy rune is already heavily sought after. This is how my warrior guild members managed to find him in just a few minutes.

Once we pen down the route the Wandering Swordsmen follows in each zone, we'll update you here with maps that show his path and every possible step. In the meantime, work with your server. He isn't very difficult to find if there are multiple eyes hunting for him all at once.

How to defeat the Wandering Swordsmen in WoW Season of Discovery

Should you manage to the Wandering Swordsmen, you'll notice that he isn't hostile to you by default. In order to face him, you need to target him and type the classic '/duel' in your chat box. This will prompt the Wandering Swordsmen to focus on you and fight. When you beat him, you'll be given the Blood Frenzy rune. Use it, and Blood Frenzy is yours forever.

What does the Blood Frenzy do in WoW Season of Discovery?

The Wandering Swordsmen is highly sought after because of the Blood Frenzy rune he drops. It provides a major boost to Rage by giving you three Rage every time one of your bleed effects deals damage to a target. Warriors (especially early-game ones) are notoriously 'Rage-starved' until they get good gear, so to have a rune that dramatically reduces this decade-old issue is a godsend and should not be ignored.
