With the release of the 10.0.7 patch in World of Warcraft Dragonflight, there came a new currency for players to spend called Untapped Forbidden Knowledge. This is used as a way for players to increase their item level if they're behind, so it's a valuable resource.
Where to find Untapped Forbidden Knowledge in Dragonflight
Shortly into the questline for the Forbidden Reach zone, players will come across a quest that rewards them with the Untapped Forbidden Knowledge, but they'll need to get a lot more if they plan on upgrading many pieces.
The easiest way to get more will be defeating rare world boss enemies in the zone. These will be enemies that usually have large groups of players forming around them, so killing them will be easy. If players spend a few hours doing this, upgrading gear will become a breeze.
How to use Untapped Forbidden Knowledge in Dragonflight
Instead of showing up in the currency tab, you will see this Untapped Forbidden Knowledge go straight to your inventory. You will have to head to Researcher Baneflar in Morqut Village — the initial zone in the Forbidden Reach — to upgrade you 385 item level Primalist gear into 395.
Talking to Baneflar will create a pop up on the screen that shows all of the gear that can be upgraded. Players who have been doing Mythic+ dungeons will see that gear here, but the Primalist gear will be shown here as well. Select a piece and use the Untapped Forbidden Knowledge to increase the item level. Unlike Mythic+ gear, the Primalist gear does cap out at 395 item level, but that's more than enough to see what the Forbidden Reach has to offer.
