All male characters in Wuthering Waves ranked by Resonance Liberation (ultimate) attack

Jiyan ;_;

Resonance Liberation is the fancy term that is used in Wuthering Waves for a character's ultimate attack. No matter which Resonantor you're currently using, you will need to charge their ultimate attack before you can use it. If you're wondering which of the male Resonators in WuWa have the best Resonance Liberation, you're in the right place.

All male Wuthering Waves characters' ultimate attacks, ranked from worst to best

There are significantly more female-presenting Resonators in Wuthering Waves than there are male ones, so this list isn't too long. I've included both Spectro and Havoc Rover in the rankings as separate characters because the difference in their Resonance Liberation attacks is significant.

Resonance Liberation attacks are a great way to buff your team or deal a lot of damage to an enemy quickly. Although there are other skills available that you can use, including Resonance Liberation attacks while you're in combat will reduce the amount of time you spend attacking an enemy.

To charge a Resonance Liberation attack, you simply need to keep hitting an enemy. Some ultimate attacks charge slower than others, and each one is different. In the list below, I've ranked the Resonance Liberation attacks of all male Resonators in Wuthering Waves from worst to best.

8 Aalto

Aalto's Resonance Liberation is Flowers in the Mist. If you need another reason to find Aalto just utterly unbearable, here it is: His ultimate attack is awful. I already couldn't get past his attitude, the sunglasses, and ugh... Just the whole first meeting, to be honest. But his Resonance Liberation is the worst one in Wuthering Waves.

According to the in-game text, this skill can "Generate a Gate of Quandary in front of you dealing Aero DMG. When bullets pass through the Gate of Quandary, ATK is increased. Gate of Quandary lasts for 10s."

All that time spent powering it up to use it, and it's just a veil that does a bit more damage (200.00% total) if you shoot through it. It's not even a huge amount of damage. No wonder he's on a bunch of D-Tier lists. It's the most lackluster thing I've ever subjected myself to, but I did it for the sake of this list.

7 Yuanwu

I, personally, love using Yuanwu in my team, but even I can admit that his Blazing Might isn't the best Resonance Liberation attack in Wuthering Waves. His attack is something that you quickly fire off for a bit of extra damage, and that's all.

Although you can "Awaken the power of thunder and provide Forte Circuit Lightning Infused status for all nearby characters for 10s, granting them increased Anti-interruption, then perform a powerful blow that deals Electro DMG," it's still easily beat out by the other male Wuthering Waves characters. It's only 176% damage, after all.

It's an okay support skill to power up your other Resonators while they fight, but that's all. I prefer his Resonance Skill, which casts a field that lasts for 12 seconds and causes Electro damage.

6 Lingyang

Oh, little lion boy, you had so much potential. Despite his kind nature and firey spirit, Lingyang is a Glacio user. Strive: Lion's Vigor is his Resonance Liberation attack, which is a two-part skill that could certainly do with a rework.

First, once you use his Resonance Liberation, you'll deal Glacio damage while attacking your enemy. During this time, you'll "receive the blessing of Lion's Vigor, which lasts for 14 seconds."

Lion's Vigor is a separate part of the skill, which increases Lingyang's Glacio damage bonus by 50%. You'd think that is a decent amount of damage, but the wording of the skill is just a roundabout way of saying that you'll do an extra 50% ice damage for 14 seconds when you activate it. It's just okay, casting a total of 200.00% skill damage at level one.

5 Spectro Rover

It's hard not to like Spectro Rover, especially because we've all spent so much time playing as them. Their ultimate attack doesn't differ between the fem or masc versions of Rover, so you won't have had a different experience if you chose fem Rover like I did. Thankfully, my brother chose masc Rover, so I was able to get the videos for Rover's ultimate attack that way.

Spectro Rover's Resonance Liberation is Echoing Orchestra, a skill where Rover "converges Spectro energy to assail the target area, detonating it after a short interval and dealing Spectro DMG."

It's a short animation for a blast of light damage, but it's effective and I'm still not tired of it. The skill damage caused is a beautiful +440.00% in total at level one, and it only grows from there.

4 Mortefi

Mortefi is part of the gun team, which consists of himself, Aalto, and Chixia. It's a fun team to play, even if I've bashed Aalto's ultimate attack in this list. Mortefi is one of the best sub-DPS in Wuthering Waves, and he works perfectly as a buff for Chixia or Rover - which I've shown in the video above.

Mortefi's Resonance Liberation skill, Violent Finalé is a three-part skill, which is a little ridiculous, but that's why he made it to this point in the list.

Violent Finalé allows you to deal Fusion damage at 80.00%, and apply Burning Rhapsody to all the Resonators in your team. The in-game information describes Burning Rhapsody as a skill that allows Mortefi to "launch a coordination attack" when his Basic Attack hits his target. He'll fire one Marcato, which deals Fusion damage.

However, if Mortefi's Heavy Attack hits his target, "Mortefi launches a Coordinated Attack, firing two Marcato." Mortefi can launch one Coordinated Attack every 0.35 seconds, and each Marcato is 16.00% skill damage.

As you can see from the video, it's best to have Mortefi switch out with another Resonator while using his ultimate; just for better results.

3 Calcharo

Edgy Calcharo has a snacky Resonance Liberation attack that really gives your enemy no chance to recover. I made the video longer here so you could see how his ultimate attack plays out visually, because it really is something to behold.

Phantom Etching is the name of the skill, and it does a ridiculous amount of damage through the various parts of the attack.

When using the skill, Calcharo attacks the target, dealing Electro damage, and enters his "Deathblade Gear state". After this state ends, his next Intro Skill is replaced with the skill "Necessary Means," which also deals Electro damage. Necessary means is 200% skill damage in total.

Any basic attacks used are replaced with "Hounds Roar," which you can use for up to five consecutive attacks, dealing more Electro damage. These have their own percentages, but I won't go into them here. You can find them in Calcharo's character info for his Resonance Liberation skill.

2 Havoc Rover

Although Calcharo's Resonance Liberation may look more impressive and have multiple parts, the fact is that Havoc Rover's Resonance Liberation attack is a stronger one-hit attack. At 765.00% total skill damage, Havoc Rover's Deadening Abyss is sure to help you take any enemy to the floor.

Similar to their Spectro skill, Deadening Abyss allows Rover to gather "echoes between [his] palms to attack a target, dealing Havoc DMG."

1 Jiyan

Jiyan has been a fan favorite for a while. He looks stoic, but he's actually a bit softy and his backstory is so, so sad. His Resonance Liberation isn't quite as strong as Havoc Rover's, but the animation is, without a doubt, the best one in the game.

Emerald Storm: Prelude allows Jiyan to enter "Qingloong Mode." This gives him increased Anti-interruption; while his Basic Attack, Heavy Attack, and Dodge Counter are replaced with the Heavy Attack
"Lance of Qingloong."

The Lance of Qingloong lets him perform up to three continuous attacks, dealing Aero damage as he goes. The total skill damage percentages for these three attacks are as follows: 263.6%, 247.68%, and 268.64%. See? Snacky.

Wuthering Waves players are looking forward to welcoming Xiangli Yao in the 1.2 update on September 5, 2024, but there is no information available on his skill yet. This list will be updated when there is.
