How to fix high ping in Wuthering Waves

Anything below 100.

I usually tolerate ping, but only for turn-based games. High ping in an action RPG like Wuthering Waves could cost you a ton of lost resources, time, and important events. Here’s how to fix that.

How to reduce Wuthering Waves high ping

If your ping is under 100, I’d say you’re lucky. WuWa is currently not very optimized for a lot of devices, especially PC, causing a lot of lag and errors.

Fortunately, with some patience and reworking, you can somewhat reduce your high ping. Aim for something below 150, at the very least.

Choose a server that’s closest to your geographical location

We’ve spoken a lot about choosing the right server for WuWa, including taking other factors like co-op into consideration. But if your priority is low ping, then the best solution is to play on a server that’s near your location.

  • America
  • Europe
  • Asia (server/s are in Japan)
  • HMT (Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan)
  • SEA (closest to Singapore)

For instance, if you’re in Australia, entering the SEA server, whose servers are in Singapore, is for the best.

You can also choose servers that look to be less congested (like, say, HMT) but your proximity to the server is still more important.

Also, if you didn't know, saves don't carry between servers. It is one save per server, per account. Only consider this solution if you're not that deep into WuWa yet (or if you rolled a bad Resonator).

Lower your graphic settings

It hurts to play games at a lower graphical quality or even FPS, but sometimes it must be done. If you have high ping, definitely open up your settings and change some of the default parameters. Here’s our settings recommendation for an optimized Wuthering Waves experience.

You always want your setup load to be in the green (smooth).

Play on WiFi (or better WiFi)

Gaming on mobile data can cause a high ping simply because the network is less stable. You’re also sharing the (mobile) tower with hundreds of other people. A private WiFi router ensures that you are gaming on your, well, private connection.

If you’re PC, definitely consider hooking up your computer with a LAN cable as well. Can’t take any chances with these action games.

Close other programs or tabs

If your device isn’t optimized for gaming, close other programs when playing WuWa. This will cause your device to heat less, which may reduce overall lag.

Pause any downloads going on in the background as well, especially if your bandwidth is not high enough to ensure the quality of your server connection.

Wait for a patch to be released

If none of the fixes above work, then you’re looking at an issue on the developer’s end—more specifically, poor optimization. There are a ton of WuWa players like you who have very good setups and miss Genshin Impact’s 80ms ping. As of 1.0, it really doesn’t look like Wuthering Waves launched as a perfect game.

Feel free to report your issues to Kuro directly in hopes of a patch being released soon. Android already got theirs pre-launch, which could be the reason why we don’t see a lot of issues on the platform.
