How to get Impa into the balloon in Zelda TotK (Tears of the Kingdom)

Let the geoglyph search begin!

Impa is one of many returning faces from Breath of the Wild to make an appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Once players find her, she needs help getting into a hot air balloon contraption. This can be a little tricky to pull off, so it's better to know what to do beforehand. I'm here to explain it all.

In Tears of the Kingdom, Impa is actually in New Serenne Stable. This is located west of Hyrule Castle on the road to the Hebra Province (coordinates -1360, 0743, 0085). Upon arrival, talk to the NPC in Sheikah dress next to the stable. He will point out that Impa is in the field trying to get onto a balloon.

After speaking with the NPC, head into the field and talk to Impa. She mentions that she is studying the geoglyphs (the weird pictures that are painted on the ground in the overworld), but her balloon fell over. Thankfully, Link has an Ultrahand that is perfect for reassembling balloons.

The balloon has fallen over the side of the platform that Impa is on. Pick it up and place it on top of Impa's booth, but don't light it just yet! Once the balloon is set, speak to Impa; she will invite Link on and then prompt him to light the fire for the balloon.

For this part, I just used a Fire Fruit fused with an arrow for convenience. There is a torch close by that players can use as well, though. Light the fire, and the balloon will carry Link and Impa into the air.

Once in the air, Impa will need help looking for a "dragon tear" somewhere within the geoglyph. This particular geoglyph is shaped like a Zonai, and the dragon tear is actually inside one of the Zonai's eyes.

Walk over to it, and the game will show its first cutscene focusing on Zelda, similar to the memories from Breath of the Wild.
