How to get the Sound of a Drum for the Great Fairy in Zelda TotK – Tears of the Kingdom

A not-so-little drummer boy.

Tired of dying like me in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom like me? We'll then you'll need to unlock the Great Fairies by coaxing them out of their buds and upgrading your armor. Cotera, the Great Fairy in West Necluda, will ask you to find the sound of a drum for her before she pops out of her plant. Need some help finding the drummer? I can help you locate him.

Before you do anything, you'll need to have completed Serenade to a Great Fairy, one of Penn's quests for the Lucky Clover Gazette, like White Goats Gone Missing. It can be completed by speaking to Penn at the Woodland Stable.

Once you've done that, the first Great Fairy should reveal the locations of the other three. Cotera can be found nearby the Dueling Peaks Stable in West Necluda. If you talk to Cotera first, she'll ask you for the sound of a drum. Speaking to the wandering troupe nearby the stable reveals that their drummer, Beetz, was last seen somewhere near Kakariko Village.

Beetz, the drummer, can be found nearby the bend in the mountain road on the way up to Kakariko Village. You'll walk through a gap in the nearby rock wall to find him. The exact coordinates are 2163, -1384, 0109. I found that the quickest way to reach this location was to use the shrine above Kakriko Village to teleport to, then hoof it along the road.

When you speak to Beetz, he'll let you know that he can't leave until he's obtained three honey combs to make some crepes with. This triggers a second side quest called Honey, Bee Mine.

Courser Bee Hives can be found hanging in the trees in this patch of trees up above and to the north and east of Kakariko Village. You can use arrows to knock down the bee hives and collect the honey comb, but watch out for the bees. I was stung a few times until I got the hang of attacking them twice to shoo them away.

Once you've collected the combs, it's a simple matter of delivering them to Beetz at his roadside encampment. He'll teleport to the troupe hanging out at Dueling Peaks Stables. You'll then need to repeat a similar process that you did with the first Great Fairy.

This time, you'll need to build a raft to carry the troupe across the river. I used the nearby building supplies to build the one pictured above. After they play for the great Fairy, you'll be all finished.
