Zelda fans can return to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Hyrule in the sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom. Unlike the first title, Tears of the Kingdom will be a single console release and be playable exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Some fans may be wondering if The Legend of Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom is free to play.
The answer is no—The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not free to play. There has yet to be a Legend of Zelda game that was free to play, and Tears of the Kingdom will not break this tradition. Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed that it will be the first Nintendo game to see a price increase.

How much does The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom cost?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will cost $69.99. It is the first Nintendo first-party title to see the price increase from $59.99 to $69.99. With Nintendo games, particularly Zelda games, holding their value for so long, it will be unlikely that Tears of the Kingdom will see a price drop anytime soon.
Nintendo has also confirmed that only select games will see the new increased price of $69.99, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. We suspect that mostly the large Nintendo franchises will see this price and only mainline games within the series.
