New Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED Model and accessories unveiled during Zelda gameplay demonstration

Looks sleek.

The rumors were true. During a gameplay demonstration for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a new Zelda themed Switch OLED Model was unveiled at the end of the video. The new model features golden joy cons with white and gold accents, as well as a white docking station with plenty of gold embellishments. The System will be launching on April 28, 2023, two weeks before the launch of the highly anticipated game.

While we have the launch date from the gameplay trailer, we do not have official confirmation on the the price of the new Switch OLED model, or when pre-orders will be available. As shown in the gameplay trailer, the new Switch model will be sold separately from the game, which releases on May 12.

Two other The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom themed Switch accessories, a Pro Controller and a Carrying Case, were also displayed after the new Switch model. These accessories feature a black and white color-scheme with gold embellishments. No green to be seen, though we think they are just as sleek. These accessories will be launching on the same day as the game, May 12.

Again, we do not have official confirmations on price yet or pre-orders. However, purchase pages have been created on the Hardware page Nintendo's store. You can bookmark the page here.

Other than the new Switch OLED Model and accessories, Nintendo showcased ten minutes of gameplay from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Link's new abilities to interact with the world around him, fusing weapons, ascending through ceilings to the tops of mountains, and creating unique devices to survive and explore around Hyrule were highlighted extensively. If you weren't a fan of weapon degradation or slipping down a mountain in a rainstorm during The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, presumably its sequel will give you the tools to overcome these mechanics.
