Top 5 themed Dungeons I want to see in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Hyrule can always fit more dungeons.

All signs are pointing at dungeons appearing in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This is a big direction for the game to go in since its prequel, Breath of the Wild, had a bigger focus on world exploration than dungeons. This is a good opportunity to think of what kind of dungeons might appear in the game, as Zelda has a history of thinking up some wild themes for dungeons.

What kind of Dungeons could be in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

Here are my top five themed dungeon predictions for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom:

5. Underground Dungeon

There have been so many great dungeons that come from caves or underground structures in the series that it would be only appropriate if one showed up in Tears of the Kingdom. The most prominent inspiration would likely be the Cave of Ordeals from Twilight Princess. There are also several areas in Hyrule that look like they could house an underground dungeon, like the Breach of Demise or the Tanagar Canyon.

4. Shadow Dungeon

While none of the Divine Beasts in Breath of the Wild could be considered Shadow Dungeons, several of the most memorable shrines in the game were shadow themed. A potential Shadow Dungeon in Tears of the Kingdom could feature mechanics like the darkness in Typhlo Ruins. Link also has lots of tools at his disposal, such as Fire Arrows, to light up dark places.

3. Forest Dungeon

A Forest Dungeon is almost a given in every Zelda entry, and yet, there wasn't one in Breath of the Wild. The closest in that game to a forest-themed area would have been the Lost Woods. A new wooded dungeon would be perfect in an area like the Akkala region, which was a little short of content in Breath of the Wild despite having a lovely autumn theme. Personally, I loved going through the Akkala region for the scenery, but sadly only had a couple of shrines and some side game content.

2. Sky Dungeon

It's clear at this point that Link will be taking to the skies in Tears of the Kingdom, so a Sky-themed dungeon would fit right in. A point of reference could be the City in the Sky from Twilight Princess, which had multiple levels, culminating in one of the most epic boss fights in Zelda history against the dragon Argorok. It's exciting to think ho high Link will be able to go with Recall in Tears of the Kingdom.

1. Snow Dungeon

Perhaps the largest area in Hyrule that doesn't feature as much content in it is the Tabinthia Frontier, towards the corner of the Hebra Province. All that really resides there are a couple of Lynels, some shrines, and one of the three Labrynths. That leaves a lot of room for a dungeon. There are also plenty of points of reference for a snow dungeon, including Snowpeak from Majora's Mask and Snowhead Temple from Twilight Princess.
