How to use the Grappleshot in Halo Infinite

Closing in.

Grappleshots might be the most popular piece of equipment in Halo Infinite because of how much and how many ways it can help you in a match. You can grapple vehicles, players, and nearby structures. You can also use it to close a gap or make a hasty escape. But — how do we use it?

How to use the Grappleshot

Like riding a bike, landing a Grappleshot is something you just need to get used to. Once you figure it out, you can't forget it. Aim at your target when you find a Grappler and have found the right moment to use it. If your target is moving, it might be best to aim ahead of the direction they're going, especially if they're in a vehicle.

The Grappleshot is an equipment item, so press the button you have assigned to use equipment when you think you're ready. Here are the default buttons to use the equipment for each platform:

  • PC: Q
  • Xbox: RB

Your Grappleshot will immediately shoot out a projectile with a rope when you press the equipment button. If it lands on a valid target, it will quickly pull you in that direction until you reach the end of the rope.

It's important to aim carefully with the Grappleshot because, even if the valid target you hit wasn't what you wanted, it would still pull you in. You'll be stuck with a temporary cooldown before you can use the Grappleshot again.

If you hit a vehicle, you'll latch on to the vehicle and have the option to melee whoever is driving it. This also works on Turrets. This makes the Grappleshot an effective tool to take out players operating Wasps, Turrets, Warthogs, etc.

If you have a shotgun or an Energy Sword, use the Grappleshot on enemy players. While you're zipping up to them, hit/shoot them for an instant kill. Alternatively, you can Grappleshot a player from behind and melee them from the back.

That's all there is to know about how to use the Grappleshot! Be sure to know where they spawn.
