Halo Infinite stunned the internet when it released its multiplayer beta for free on Halo's 20th anniversary. Players can now take control of their Spartans to enjoy the online experience, but will the game stay free past its official launch?
Halo Infinite will have free multiplayer for the entirety of its life cycle, meaning players will never have to pay to play the base Halo Infinite multiplayer experience. Halo Infinite has opted to charge for cosmetic items in the game's shop, and Battle Passes each season, providing a series of rewards from iconic entries in the Halo franchise. Season One's Battle Pass: Heroes of Reach focuses on characters and items from 2010's Halo: Reach.

Halo Infinite's campaign, on the other hand, is not free. Players will either have to buy the game outright for $59.99 or have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass to play the latest entry in the story of Master Chief and the Zeta Halo.
Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Beta is available now, and the campaign debuts on Dec. 8, 2021.
