Will Activision Blizzard games still release on PlayStation consoles?

The 69 billion-dollar question

Xbox has announced that they are buying Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion dollars in the largest gaming acquisition to ever take place. Now that Activision Blizzard and all of their subsidiaries have been added to the ever-growing list of Xbox Game Studios, what does that mean for the future of Activision Blizzard games on PlayStation consoles?

The deal is in its early stages and won't be finalized until 2023, meaning nothing is official as of yet. However, we have heard from multiple sources, including Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox himself, that all Activ/Bliz games will continue to be supported on all platforms, including PlayStation. There may be some timed exclusives or console-specific benefits, but as of now, it is safe to say that your favorite Activision Blizzard games and future games will continue to be playable on PlayStation.

Xbox will be unlikely to make Activision Blizzard games exclusive for a few reasons. These games are unlikely to be exclusive because Activision Blizzard is known for making massive live-service games that perform best when they are on as many platforms as possible. Another reason is that the industry as a whole seems to be moving away from console exclusive games, and Xbox is at the forefront of this movement.

From , Activision Blizzard games will likely still release on PlayStation. With Phil Spencer being mostly anti-exclusive, players can find peace knowing their favorite games will probably still be coming to their console of choice.
