If you are wondering who owns World of Warcraft, the answer is Activision Blizzard but not for long as the company was recently purchased. In short, Mircosoft has recently made a 68 billion dollar purchase of Activision Blizzard in a deal that will finalize in 2023.
So in the meantime, this means Activision Blizzard owns World of Warcraft, but ownership will transfer when the deal finalizes. What this deal spells for the critically acclaimed World of Warcraft is unknown. Because of this, all we can do until 2023 rolls around is speculate to our heart's content.

That said, we imagine the first thing that will happen to World of Warcraft is gaining some sort of entry onto the Xbox Game Pass. World of Warcraft's entry onto the platform will probably entail the standard version of the game becoming available on PC Game Pass.
But for a more extreme move, the game could potentially become fully accessible on the Xbox Game Pass.
Making World of Warcraft and its expansions would be a power move that would further increase the value of the Xbox Game Pass. Yet again, this is purely speculation, and we won't know anything until the deal with Microsoft becomes finalized in 2021.
