Resident Evil 4 Remake will be announced this year, will include big story changes from the original

Time to replay Resident Evil 4...again!

Fanbyte has now shared new info about the Resident Evil 4 remake (these are reports based on their sources, not official info from Capcom), suggesting that Capcom intends to announce it later this year and will include big story changes. The original plan was reportedly to have the same team behind the Resident Evil 3 Remake work on the game, with hopes of bringing back the director of the original game. When the director passed on the project and the Resident Evil 3 Remake received a mixed response, Capcom decided to swift the project over to the same developers who worked on the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

After the change, Capcom allegedly decided to no longer make Resident Evil 4 Remake a strict scene-by-scene adaptation of the original game. The company now intends to give the game a more spooky tone and make it scarier, a contrast to the original's more action-orientated style. The developers of the Remake also hope to expand the short campaigns starring the character Ada to make it match more in line with the lore of Resident Evil. The developers are also debating if the Ada Campaign should be DLC or not.

Few games have enjoyed the same number of re-releases and availability as Resident Evil 4. Originally released as a GameCube exclusive, the fourth entry of the Resident Evil franchise has since been ported onto nearly every other console that has been released since then. Most recently the game can be found on VR. A Resident Evil 4 remake has long since been rumored, especially after the release of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes.
