Players have the ability to explore the Lands Between in Elden Ring together. To do that with specific players you'll need matching passwords. So, here's how to set passwords for multiplayer and co-op in Elden Ring.
What are co-op passwords in Elden Ring?
Co-op passwords are needed if a player wants to match with a specific player(s) in Elden Ring. This makes sure no other player can enter the host player's session. If you want to play with your friends specifically, you'll need to have matching passwords.
How to set a co-op session password in Elden Ring
In the Pause Menu, selecting the Multiplayer option will take players to a separate menu where they can use their multiplayer items with or without a password. If you set a multiplayer password, then a specific player or players will join your session. To do that first set a desired password, then use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy near a Site of Grace or Summoning Pool as a host. You'll see the summoning signs for the specific players your passwords match with. Then, you can summon them for co-op.
If you're the one joining the host session, set the same password and put down the Tarnished's Furl Finger near the same Grace or Summoning Pool as the player. Then the host will summon you after seeing your sign.
How to set a Group Password in Elden Ring
When using a Group Password, players open up much more during co-op. Multiple summon signs, Bloodstains, and Messages will appear in the world from anyone using the same Group Password. This can be used for large events or just groups of friends who want to leave things behind for each other. Invasions will occur regardless of having a password is set or not if a partner is summoned. When playing solo, only NPC invasions will occur in certain parts of the map.
