How to win the Cooking Contest in Rune Factory 5

Aim for nothing less than first place.

The Cooking Contest happens on the 6th of Spring. Since it requires you to cook the best dish that you can, it’s not recommended to host it on year one due to limited resources.

Still, on year two and beyond, you should definitely host it. The Cooking Contest is one of the easiest festivals to win. You just need to prepare good food beforehand.

Tips to winning the Cooking Contest

  1. Use high-level ingredients. Your dish’s level affects the quality of the ingredients that you use. This is why it’s important to make your own produce by taming produce monsters and showering them with affection.
  2. Add more of the same ingredients to the dish you’re making. If a dish needs Butter, you can go ahead and toss more than one Butter into the mix. It’ll cost more RP but will increase your dish’s quality by a lot.
  3. Present a dish with more base ingredients. The more complex a dish is, the more points it will get. If the dish needs another cooked ingredient to make (such as Udon and Butter), it will also generate more points.

Winning first place will net you nice Cooking Breads, rare food, rare equipment, a status leveler, and 150 SEED points. Second and third place won’t get you as much, but the rewards are still worth it.
