After leaving Steam and gaining its own launcher, Dark and Darker has been on many players' minds. But those not quite ready to dive into the game may be wondering when the next playtest for Dark and Darker will be.

With Dark and Darker off Steam and in early access, Ironmace Games is no longer holding playtests. Players must purchase the game if they wish to play the hardcore PvPvE dungeon crawler. Ironmace Games hopes to bring Dark and Darker back to Steam once the lawsuit is concluded, but there is no guarantee more playtests will be held.

Is Dark and Darker on Steam?

Dark and Darker is no longer on Steam after being removed due to conflicts with the publishers. Ironmace Games fully intends to return the game to Steam, though no date has been given. The legal battle between the developer and former publisher will need to be resolved before Dark and Darker returns to the most popular gaming platform on PC.

Is Dark and Darker active?

Despite moving from Steam and using its own launcher, Dark and Darker still boasts an active player count. There is no official way to track how many players are diving into dungeons and trying to escape alive with their loot. Unofficial methods of determining player base estimate at least 20,000 players. Dark and Darker had a peak player count of 69,000 before leaving Steam, and these numbers will likely return when the game is released on Steam again.
