All Spiritomb weaknesses and Best Counters in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

A good Moonblast is all you need!

Spiritomb is only weak to Fairy, which is fairly prominent in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It has very good Defense and Special Defense, making it difficult to deal with when not hitting it for super-effective damage. These defenses are equal to each other but so are its Attack and Special Attack, making it able to put the damage in on both the Physical and Special side. It can be tricky at first glance to figure out the best way of taking down a Spiritomb, but when examining its movepool, it isn't too bad. These are Spiritomb's weaknesses and best counters in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What is Spiritomb weak to in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Spiritomb is a Ghost/Dark Type that can have either the Ability Pressure or the Hidden Ability Infiltrator. Pressure is mainly used for stalling, causing every move of the opposing Pokémon to consume two PP instead of one. Infiltrator works much differently and will cause Spiritomb's moves to go through Reflect, Light Screen, Aurora Veil, Safeguard, and Substitute. It has a narrow move pool that it can use to its advantage, but Spiritomb's best moves can still be effective on many players' teams. It can't be hit by Psychic, Normal, or Fighting attacks and only possesses one weakness: Fairy.

How to counter Spiritomb in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Spiritomb is very bulky but can be dealt with by using strong Fairy Type attacks. A majority of Grass, Psychic, and even some Dark Type Pokémon can learn Fairy moves, making them great options to counter Spiritomb. It doesn't have a great movepool and relies heavily on its Ghost and Dark Type STAB moves. The best counter to this Pokémon is Mabosstiff, as it resists both Types and learns Play Rough, a powerful Fairy Type attack. Spiritomb has access to Will-O-Wisp, which can counter Mabosstiff as it will decrease its Attack stat while it's Burned. Alternatively, any Pokémon with a high Special Attack and access to Fairy moves will be able to deal with it without much issue, such as Gardevoir or Arboliva.
