When are loadouts coming to Destiny 2?

A long-anticipated feature finally comes to Destiny 2.

For years, the Destiny 2 community has asked for a feature that is commonplace in similar games. Loadouts are massively helpful tools that save time and allow for easier buildcrafting. Since there are several customization options like weapon mods, perks, and armor mods, it's tedious to keep track of multiple builds. However, loadouts have been announced for Destiny 2, and they're arriving in tandem with the Lightfall expansion. Come join us as we explain loadouts in Destiny 2.

In the TWAB post for January 19, Bungie provides more information on the upcoming loadout features. Loadouts will release alongside the Lightfall expansion on February 28, along with changes to Champion mechanics and online matchmaking. Loadouts will allow players to save their preferred weapon perks, weapon mods, and armor mods. This allows players to easily switch between builds for every game mode and circumstance, preventing them from having to slowly change their mods to match the activity.

Can loadouts save cosmetics?

Unfortunately, loadouts will not be able to save cosmetic preferences, such as ships, sparrows, ghost shells, finishers, and emblems. According to creative director Tyson Green, in an interview with PC Gamer, "loadouts could expand to include some of those in the future." For now, loadouts will only cover the necessary aspects of buildcrafting, but we would not be surprised if Bungie expanded their scope to include cosmetics.

Players can use up to 10 loadout slots per Guardian, although not every slot will be immediately available upon release. To unlock more loadout slots, you must increase your Guardian Rank. Even so, players will have access to several loadout slots if they have completed the New Light experience, so they should have plenty of room to test out builds on the day of Lightfall's release.
