After the Jailbreak in Chapter 3 of Forspoken, your character equips a Cloak with benefits such as a boost to base health and defense. Later in the chapter, you'll unlock the crafting mechanic you can use to upgrade and craft gear using resources such as Nuggets, Grainstone, Balm Flax, Diurnite, and many more.

What upgrades should I get first for my Cloak & Necklace in Forspoken?
On the crafting table, you are prompted to upgrade your Cloak. Since the resources are limited in the early game, you should be careful while selecting what upgrade you want for yourself. Here's our recommendation for some good early upgrade options for your gear.
Best early upgrades for Cloak
- Base feature of the Hooded Cloak
- Health: Requires one Grainstone to boost the parameter by one level
- Equipment Effects / Stat Improvement (only three slots available)
- Health +5 percent: Requires one Balm Flax
- Defense +5 percent: Requires one Balm Flax
- Critical hits can boost attack: Requires one Crag Grass and one Wild Musk
Best early upgrades for Necklace
- Base feature of the Orison Necklace (reward for defeating Lesser Deinosuchus)
- Purple Magic: Requires one Grainstone to boost the parameter by one level
- Equipment Effects / Stat Improvements (only three slots available)
- Auto-heal effect triggered when enemy defeated: Orison comes pre-equipped with this perk
- Health +5 percent: Requires one Balm Flax
- Improved resistance to reduction in defense: Requires one Crag Grass and one Wild Musk
