If you're trying to launch Valorant but are being met with the "cannot be launched with your current compatibility mode" error, you're probably confused about what this means. Here's how to fix the Valorant compatibility settings error so you can return to winning matches ASAP.
How to fix Valorant compatibility settings error
There are three methods to fixing the Valorant "cannot be launched with your current compatibility mode" error, all of which you can do from your PC itself, unlike Valorant connection issues that require hardware reboots and router resets.
To fix the Valorant compatibility settings error, try the following:
Launch VALORANT via its executable file
Instead of double-clicking on the Valorant icon from your desktop or selecting it from your Start menu, boot the game through its executable file. To do this:
- Right-click on the Valorant game icon and select Open file location. This will bring up a new window showing you where the main .exe file is for the game.
- Double-click on VALORANT.exe here to launch the FPS title via its executable file.
Change Valorant compatibility options
If launching Valorant through its executable file doesn't work, try tweaking the game's compatibility options, as sometimes, if not correct, Windows can block it from running correctly, causing the error.
- Right-click on VALORANT.exe in Valorant's file location, outlined in the first method.
- Select Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab.
- Check the Run this program in Compatibility Mode option, then select your operating system from the drop-down list.
- Click Apply to save the changes.
You'll also need to do the same with the RiotClientServices.exe, which you'll find in the Local Disk (C:) > Riot Games > Riot Client folder.
Disable Valorant administrator rights
If you have Valorant set to run as administrator, this may also be the root of the problem. To change this:
- Right-click on VALORANT.exe in Valorant's file location, outlined in the first method.
- Select Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab.
- Disable the Run this program as administrator check box.
- Click Apply to save the changes.
If none of the above methods work, open a support ticket through the Riot Games Submit a Ticket page, ensuring you detail exactly what you've tried to fix the issue so that you can receive help as fast as possible.
