Starfield can play in first and third person, and I prefer the former when in combat, but typically stick to the third person for everything else when I want a wider perspective. That said, a wider Field of View (FOV) can be handy in first person, too, which may leave you wondering if you can change FOV in Starfield.
Does Starfield have FOV settings?
The answer is no; Starfield does not have any default options to adjust your FOV. There is no in-game FOV slider, meaning you cannot change the field of view. However, not all hope is lost, as dedicated fans have already found a way around it.
How to change Field of View in Starfield
While Starfield has no native way to change FOV in-game, fans have already created a solution. A simple way to get more FOV settings in your game is to create a new text document in your Starfield folder and edit it as instructed below.
- Go to Documents/MyGames/Starfield.
- Create a New Text Document.
- Name it "StarfieldCustom.ini".
- Open the Text Document.
- Type in the following:
- [Camera]
- fFPWorldFOV=100.0000
- fTPWorldFOV=100.0000
- Save the Text Document.
- Open Starfield.
Your FOV will have changed with this new text document and give you results like those seen in the screenshots above. Adjust the values to find your perfect field of view, knowing finding the right balance may take some time.
Bethesda may add an official FOV slider, but it remains to be seen. Until then, you'll need to use workarounds such as the one above, or wait for an unofficial mod to implement one. I didn't find the standard FOV bad, but feel free to adjust your settings if needed.
