While F-Zero is all about high-speed racing through a series of races, F-Zero 99 turns it into a battle royale with 99 racers. Picking the right vehicle matters in this high-speed racer, so I wanted to ensure I had the best Machine in F-Zero 99.
Best Machines in F Zero 99
While I love the Blue Falcon, I did want to experiment with my options. As such, let's look at the best vehicles in F-Zero 99.
1. Wild Goose - Pico
The Wild Goose may be the hardest machine to control in F-Zero 99. However, once you get the hang of it, its speed lets you leave the competition in the dust. With the second-highest speed in the game, the Wild Goose takes some getting used to. But it also features the highest durability in the game, making it fairly forgiving when colliding with other players and the sides.
2. Blue Falcon - Captain Falcon
The Blue Falcon is my go-to Machine in F-Zero 99. Even if it isn't as fast as the Fire Stingray, the Blue Falcon is average in most areas, making it reliable and a good vehicle for beginners. You won't excel in any particular area, but I think the balance the Blue Falcon brings more than makes up for this.

3. Fire Stingray - Samurai Goroh
The Fire Stingray is the fastest Machine in F-Zero 99. However, it is offset by the worst acceleration. You'll notice this whenever you crash or bump into something and lose speed. Its incredible speed is great for those who can master the game's mechanics, but the slow acceleration is more punishing than I'd like.
4. Golden Fox - Dr. Stewart
The Golden Fox isn't bad, but it lacks speed compared to every other vehicle. As a result, you are more reliant on your boost, which is helpful, considering the Golden Fox has the best recovery in the game. But it lacks in almost every other field, making it effective for those who can dodge damage and manage their boosts well.
What Machine should I use in F Zero 99?
Ultimately, I recommend trying every vehicle until you find one that feels right. The F-Zero series is unforgiving and challenging, including F-Zero 99. While stats are important, skill and comfort with your car also matter. The Blue Falcon is the perfect starting vehicle and can help identify what kind of racing style you prefer. In fact, I suggest picking the Blue Falcon until you get more comfortable with the game's mechanics, then trying another vehicle or sticking with the iconic car.
