What does ADR mean in CS2?

We hope your ADR isn't too low.

If you're just getting started in Counter-Strike 2, there are a lot of terms you have to learn. ADR is one such term, and CS2 players are going to learn what that means quickly.

What does ADR stand for in CS2 (Counter-Strike 2)?

ADR means average damage per round, which translates directly to how much damage you're doing a round. A higher number is better, as that means you'll likely be getting kills and not missing your shots. Seeing a number that's low, or even at zero, is not a good thing as it means you're not carrying your weight.

You might still be winning your rounds with a low ADR if you're being carried by a good teammate, but you don't want that to be the case. In an ideal world, everybody is chipping into successful rounds, but that's not always going to be the case. As you learn the game, don't expect your ADR to be through the roof. Not everyone in the CS2 community is going to be okay with you having a low ADR, however, so you might experience some hostilities if you're playing with random players.

How to raise your ADR in CS2

There are a few ways to ensure a decent ADR in CS2 outside of just getting better at the game. Picking the weapon that's right for you is a big step. You'll have to take some time trying out different guns, and each of them plays differently from the others. You can also try out different game modes to help mix things up. Casual is a good place to learn how things work.

Another big thing is finding a team to play with. There's no telling what type of players you'll get in a random game, but friends are another thing entirely. You'll learn each other's playstyle and how to work off each other. You'll also have much lower chances of being flamed if you're playing with friends.
